โจทย์ในการออกแบบบ้านในเมืองบนที่ดินที่มีลักษณะแคบและลึก ให้สอดคล้องกับความต้องการของเจ้าของบ้านที่ต้องการให้มีพื้นที่สำหรับสังสรรค์และงานอดิเรกของตัวเอง ( Relaxing Space )
สถาปนิกจึงออกแบบโดยวางตำแหน่งพื้นที่ดังกล่าวไว้บนชั้น 3 ซึ่งเป็นชั้นบนสุดของบ้าน เพื่อแก้ปัญหาข้อจำกัดของที่ดิน และยังคำนึงถึงสุนทรียภาพของผู้อยู่อาศัย( Quality Space )โดยการออกแบบให้มีพื้นที่สีเขียวซึ่งเป็นสวนเล็กๆกลางบ้าน(Secret Garden) เชื่อมต่อกันกับห้องนั่งเล่น ห้องทานอาหารและ Pantry ที่เจ้าของบ้านใช้งานบ่อยที่สุด โดยตำแหน่งของสวนกลางบ้านนั้นจะอยู่ในร่มเงาของบ้านที่สูง 3 ชั้นให้สามารถใช้งานได้เกือบทั้งวัน

ตลอดจนการออกแบบ Facade ของบ้านโดยการร่นช่องเปิดเข้ามาเพื่อไม่ให้ปะทะกับแดด ลม ฝน โดยตรงทำให้เกิดมิติของ Facade อีกทั้งยังสร้างความเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของตัวบ้านได้อีกด้วย

Designing a house on a narrow, deep urban lot presents the challenge of balancing functional needs with spatial constraints. To address the homeowner's desire for social spaces and private hobby areas, the architect strategically positioned these functions on the third floor—the top level of the house. This solution not only maximizes the limited footprint but also enhances the living experience by creating a "Quality Space" that seamlessly integrates aesthetics and functionality.

At the heart of the design is a "Secret Garden," a compact, shaded green space located centrally within the house. This garden connects directly to the living room, dining area, and pantry—the spaces most frequently used by the homeowner. The garden's placement ensures usability throughout the day while fostering a serene atmosphere amidst the urban environment.

The facade design further elevates the house's identity by incorporating recessed openings, which shield the interiors from direct sunlight, wind, and rain. This thoughtful detailing not only provides climate resilience but also adds depth and character to the building's exterior, creating a distinctive architectural statement.

"ดอยหลวงเชียงดาว" แลนด์มาร์กของอำเภอเชียงดาว เป็นดอยที่มีลักษณะทางกายภาพที่โดดเด่นสามารถมองเห็นได้ชัดถึงแม้จะอยู่ภายในตัวอำเภอ เราจึงออกแบบคาเฟ่และที่พักโดยให้ดอยหลวงเป็นจุดนำสายตาของโครงการ ตั้งแต่การวางฝังโครงการ การกำหนดค่าระดับ ตลอดจนการออกแบบช่องเปิด เพื่อให้แต่ละฟังก์ชั่นในโครงการสามารถ Take view พระเอกของเราได้ชัดในทุกๆพื้นที่

เส้นสายของงานสถาปัตยกรรมที่มีความโค้งเว้า(Concave&Convex) เกิดจากการออกแบบตาม Concept Design ที่เราได้กล่าวมาข้างต้น (Form Follows Function) ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการยื่นกันสาดชายคาที่มีระยะการยื่นที่แตกต่างกันให้สอดคล้องกับกิจกรรมที่เกิดขึ้นใต้ชายคานั้นๆ ทั้งพื้นที่นั่งของคาเฟ่แบบ Outdoor รวมถึง Bath tub, Plunge pool ของอาคารที่พัก ตลอดจนการนำเส้นสายความโค้งเว้า (Concave&Convex) นั้นมาสร้างคาแรกเตอร์ให้กับอาคารคาเฟ่ สร้างภาพจำให้กับคนที่ผ่านไปมา แต่ยังให้ความยำเกรงต่อบริบท(Context) ที่สำคัญของพื้นที่ นั่นก็คือ "ดอยหลวงเชียงดาว"

"Doi Luang Chiang Dao, the iconic mountain of Chiang Dao District, serves as the heart of our design. Its striking silhouette, visible from almost anywhere in the district, inspired the entire project—layout, levels, and the framing of views—ensuring every corner of the cafe and accommodation offers a clear connection to this natural landmark.

The architectural forms, defined by dynamic concave and convex curves, follow a 'form-follows-function' approach. These curves shape not only the character of the cafe and accommodation but also serve practical purposes—like the varying eave extensions tailored to activities beneath, from shaded outdoor seating at the cafe to the private bathtub and plunge pool areas of the accommodation. The curved design doesn’t just create a distinctive visual identity for the buildings; it seamlessly integrates with and pays homage to the grandeur of Doi Luang Chiang Dao."

จากบ้านไม้เก่า และที่ดินแปลงสวยที่ซื้อไว้เพื่อเตรียมสร้างเป็นบ้านพักตากอากาศในวัยเกษียณ และใช้พักผ่อนในช่วงฤดูหนาว วันนี้ได้เปลี่ยนรูปแบบใหม่สู่การสร้างคาเฟ่ และที่พักแบบ airbnb บรรยากาศสบายเป็นกันเองออกแบบโดย S.O.S Architects ด้วยการวางรูปแบบอาคารแต่ละหลังให้มีความต่อเนื่องและเชื่อมต่อกัน ช่วยให้มองเห็นวิวธรรมชาติที่ต่างกันในแต่ละชั้น โดยไม่บดบังทัศนียภาพที่สวยงาม และเนื่องจากบริบทของที่พักตั้งอยู่ท่ามกลางต้นไม้ ลำธาร และน้ำตกในหมู่บ้านแม่กำปอง สถาปนิกจึงออกแบบตัวอาคารให้มีความโค้งมนลื่นไหล สำแดงรูปลักษณ์ภายนอกของอาคารผสานไปกับเส้นสายของธรรมชาติอย่างแยบยล กลายเป็นสถาปัตยกรรมที่ผสานทิวทัศน์ที่สวยงามเข้ากับที่ว่างและวัสดุของอาคารได้อย่างลงตัว
