Ethnic Hilltribe Eco Trails

Spent two days on the Dio Inathon hike and it was an amazing experience!
Doing a 15 km hike and having a native guide explain to you about all of the Flora and fauna in the forest and the jungle, show you a hidden waterfall and amazing viewpoints is crazy, and sleeping in the farmers' huts is totally amazing.
Would really recommend this two day hike for anyone wanting to see the jungles and culture in North Thailand!
I signed up for the 1-day Doi Inthanon Hilltribe Trail. It was a really good experience and I enjoy the route a lot. Even though the weather was not good and we could not see the scenic views, but our guide Yod taught us a lot about herbs and plants. He also showed us the village he comes from and let us know the cultural stuff. The whole trip is very informative and interesting. Yod is an excellent tour guide and he took good care of us along the way! Thank You!
Very nice trip into the doi inathon park! Amazing experience with a crazy guide. We learnt a lot about jungle. Thank you!!!

🌳We are excited to be getting inquiries about treks.🌳

At the moment we are only running 1 day treks and we need a minimum of 48 hours in advance bookings. HOWEVER you can still message us the day before and see if we have any trips planned already.

We really hope that in another few months, world travel will be back on track and we will be able to have more regular treks. Then hopefully open up our farmstays again.

👉Here is some info on the trek we are able to operate now in Doi Inthanon/Mae Wang national park.

🌲🌳Jungle man, survivalist treks🌲🌳

We have had a lot of interest and messages about survival treks. So we have designed a survival jungle experience in the home area of our founder Mit. This is a very unique experience which will be all about learning how local Hilltribe people live off the forest, all about foraging, hunting, fishing, using natural materials to cook like bamboo. Learning about all the different herbs and vegetables found in the forest. Preparing them and cooking with them to make very local dishes.

This is for people who really want to learn about how most hilltribe people live. Many of whom especially now during the pandemic, have really had to spend a lot of the time in the forest foraging and hunting for food. On this trip you will spend 2 nights and 2 days in Muang Khong, Chiang Dao area.

Get ready for your bear grills experience!

DM us for more info on the itinerary.

It's been an incredibly hard time since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Every day passes and we wonder when will it end?

This post by the Karen Hilltribe Trust, reminded us why we will not be defeated by COVID-19, we will build up again and start over so that we can give all our Karen Hilltribe guides and the communities we worked with a better life, by providing a sustainable income again that is more than this terrible daily average that they live off. We are all suffering, we have all lost so much. We strove to uplift our Hilltribe communities through skills development and farm stay building and management. We had just started our second project with a Karen Hilltribe community and we had big dreams and goals and then covid-19 hit, we were never able to complete the farm stay and bring our wonderful customers there.

We hope that one day we can, that we can take people on beautiful hikes again through the jungles and forests of the North, to meet and hike with our awesome Karen guides and experience Hilltribe life and sleep in the beautiful farm stay, immersed with us, as Karen Hilltribe people.

We will get through this, we will strive to be better and we will help our community with a better tomorrow.

Did you know that the #Karen in northern Thailand live on approximately US$0.32 per capita per day (10.5 Thai Baht) according to our primary research? This is significantly lower than the extreme #poverty threshold of US$1.90 per person per day.

Great trekking in Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary. This photo is from 2017. We wait to have people join us on treks again. 🏞️🌲💚🌿🍃🌱

Rainy season = beautiful rice paddy's!! ❤️😍🌱

Rainy season is actually a wonderful time to hike, if you don't mind the occasional down pour, there are advantages like gorgeous green rainforests, flowing waterfalls and rice fields. They are so beautiful to take in, sitting in the valley, you come down from the mountain and out of the rainforest to a beautiful view of rice paddy's. 🌾 #rainyseason #ricepaddys

If you are in Chiang Mai this weekend, let us know, we need 2 more people to get out into nature on our 1 day doi inthanon trail!

Join us on a beautiful summit trail to the top of the 3rd highest mountain in Thailand, Doi Luang in Chiang Dao. This incredible 230-250 million year old limestone massif in the Daen Lao Range and rises abruptly and impressively from the plains below where Chiang Dao town is located. The town and subsequently the peak translate to the City of Stars, a reference to the high peaks and elevations in the immediate area. The town is located in far northern Thailand approximately 65 kilometers north of the center of Chiang Mai and less than 50 kilometers from the Myanmar boarder to the north.

The peak is most commonly done as an overnight trip but for fit people we are able to offer it as a day trip, which is easier and more environmentally friendly to do. It is a reasonable and easily accomplished hike, depending on the pace you hike completing this hike can take 8 to 10 hours. Doi Luang, is very popular for its wildlife and nature as it hosts many flowers visible throughout the hike and is a popular birding destination for visitors worldwide.

For more information on reservations, you can contact us directly for the itinerary and any interest in a 2 day trip. Please note however we do not offer camping at the summit.

Space is limited please request reservations up to 7 days in advance.

We are looking into running 1 day hikes up Doi Luang, Chiang Dao this year. This is a complicated trail to get onto and requires up to 15 days in advance reservation, the 2 day hike is already nearly fully booked. For the most part it is a popular with thai people. We are hoping to give expats a chance to enjoy this hike by making it easy to book through us and we will do all the necessary documents and reservations for you, take you up to Chiang Dao with our local guide from the area and a porter from Chiang Dao. Watch this space for an update for when we are ready to start taking reservations for the beautiful summit hike up to Doi Luang, 3rd highest mountian in Thailand.
