The Peacock Mantis Shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus) 🦐 is a truly amazing animal. They’re mostly found in the Indo-Pacific region but actually live around the world’s tropical seas. They have the most-complex & advanced eyesight in the animal kingdom, and pack a fast and strong punch. Luckily for divers who might want to see how much this hurts, the Mantis Shrimp is both shy and fast, and will quickly run backwards to the safety of a hole in the reef if it feels threatened.

Rasdhoo Atoll is one of the best places in The Maldives for scuba diving. There are lots of dive sites, and a good selection for inexperienced and professional divers. The location is not too far from other great diving atolls or from Malé airport. If you dive at the right time and place, you might encounter Oceanic Manta Rays or Hammerhead Sharks!
Although there are dive centres on Rasdhoo Island, the best way to dive there is on a Maldives liveaboard cruise. These are currently available for international tourists, and we have some amazing discounts!
