These are some of the first outputs using a Designgraphik based training set, for . These went off topic so I am adjusting another build to get closer my personal style but these where still kind of interesting.

I have spent the past week or so exploring Stable Diffusion (SD) as opposed to Midjourney for the next round of AI generated artworks.

With SD, I am finding I have much greater control as I can run it locally, it’s free, and the community is already exploding with open development. This first set of images are based on my first training set, using all Designgraphik artworks as the base image influence. I am pretty excited with these initial results, to say the least…

Tips for running SD locally
- Run it on Windows with a proper GPU (8gb or so)
- Get the web based uI version
- Research about training it (be original vs creating clone works of other artists)
- Get a good up scaler (look up R-ESRGAN 4X)
- Jump into YouTube as there is already a few guys posting some great content

I am building a larger training set as I post this, more to come!

These are some close ups from last month when digging deeper into Midjourney, AI generated art. I was exploring themes like gradients, oils and gasoline for the prompt inputs; using the newer ‘Remaster’ option as well.

Update: I spent some time over the weekend exploring Stable Diffusion, and am working on a few training sets of my own Designgraphik artworks. I will share more on this as it comes along, still deep in the YouTubes right now.

Last night I was sitting in traffic, and instead of watching the cars go by me on Bangkok's streets, my mind turned towards exploring more AI renders. I popped open Discord, and started typing out some random new ideas. I used multiple images from my website as the inputs for Midjourney and told it to give me “conceptual ink drawings.” The results are really architectural, with many of them capturing a similar flow or motion I would work towards.

AI-generated artwork has been a hot topic in recent months, and it's an area that designers are exploring for new inspiration. Much of the output feels derivative at this point, but also very promising, as these raw images provide great starting points in design production. For example, the new features being added to Blender3d via Stable Diffusion will inspire designers and allow them to speed up 3d production, taking their renders to new levels. I can't wait to keep exploring.

On the other hand, the problem AI creates by mining everyone's work to create its "art" is an interesting and crucial dilemma, which creates the licensing question of who in fact “owns” the derivative works? Much as an AI does, we are all inspired by things that we see, but the AI doesn’t take a lifetime to develop, like we do. Events and experiences through our human lens makes them feel more personal, valuable, and important. Then again, who’s to say that light speed efficiency makes for any less meaning? Wouldn’t we do it if we could?

Obviously these questions will be playing out in front of us in the months and years to come. For the time being, I am going to post all of my AI explorations for FREE.
