😀 Exciting news! Waupon Wongvitvichot , a dedicated Ph.D. student from the TC Lab, has achieved the Best Poster Presentation and the Student and Young Scientist Award at the Rubber and Green Materials for Sustainable Society International Conference 2023, March 2-3.

His work involves developing a selective adsorbent from eco-friendly sources, particularly for purification applications like lactic acid fermentation broth. The key players in his research are carboxymethyl cellulose, a biodegradable biopolymer, and citric acid. They play a crucial role in selectively removing impurities and preventing the adsorption of lactic acid, the end product, onto the adsorbent.

I had the privilege of being invited as a speaker at the Japan-Thailand Bilateral Symposium of Advanced Materials for a Sustainable Society on October 9-10, 2023, to share the research aimed at improving CO2 capture capacity.

"Explore the versatility of Benzoxazine, a flexible raw material that allows for easy structural design, particularly in tailoring pore size and structure to suit various applications. The crucial component, dicyanodiamide, plays a pivotal role in producing nitrogen-enriched graphite-like carbon, perfect for CO2 absorption. The precise amount of dicyanodiamide is key to crafting a graphene-like carbon structure, intensifying the orderliness as its quantity increases. Additionally, the N functional group in dicyanodiamide acts as a co-carbonizing agent for polybenzoxazine, enriching the structure with N functional groups and significantly enhancing CO2 adsorption efficiency in micro-mesoporous carbon"

"Discover the remarkable potential of benzoxazine—an extraordinary material known for its 3D-carbon porous structure. With its high surface area, exceptional surface functionalities, and efficient chemical transport properties, it finds diverse applications as a catalyst, for purification, and in battery technology.

Congratulations 🏆 to Chananya Sommut Chananya Sommut , a dedicated Ph.D. student and junior researcher at the TC Lab, for achieving the Bronze Best Poster Award at the Japan-Thailand Bilateral Symposium of Advanced Materials for a Sustainable Society. Her groundbreaking work involves developing a melamine-based polybenzoxazine, creating N-doped, highly porous carbon ideal for effective CO2 capture."

Metal ion removal using a low-cost coconut shell activated carbon bioadsorbent in the recovery of lactic acid from the fermentation broth - Bioresources and Bioprocessing 30/10/2023

Our breakthrough in refining lactic acid, a pivotal step in reducing production costs, has been achieved through extensive research. We've replaced intricate and expensive materials with a more sustainable approach. By modifying coconut shell activated carbon with a bio-polymer, carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), we've significantly improved the efficiency of purifying lactic acid during fermentation. What's more, the used adsorbent finds a second life by capturing carbon dioxide. It's innovation with sustainability at its core!

Metal ion removal using a low-cost coconut shell activated carbon bioadsorbent in the recovery of lactic acid from the fermentation broth - Bioresources and Bioprocessing Downstream recovery and purification of lactic acid from the fermentation broth using locally available, low-cost materials derived from agricultural residues was demonstrated herein. Surface modification of coconut shell activated carbon (CSAC) was performed by grafting with carboxymethyl cellulose...
