11 January 2025 — The second Saturday of January marks Thailand's National Children's Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the nation's youth. This year, 𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗢 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠-𝗘𝗗 proudly participated in the festivities on 11 January 2025, at two exciting locations: the Ministry of Education and the Science Centre for Education (Bangkok Planetarium). We brought a variety of engaging hands-on STEAM activities, offering children an opportunity to explore, learn, and have fun. It was a day filled with creativity, curiosity, and hands-on experiences that left everyone inspired.

SEAMEO STEM-ED unveiled a one-of-a-kind paper robot featuring a vibrant LED display and servo motor, all controlled by a microcontroller. The robot’s face and hand movements can be brought to life using a piano keyboard, allowing participants to control it and even mimic their own facial expressions with the robot! This interactive experience delighted everyone, sparking creativity and laughter as they saw their movements come to life. As part of an upcoming STEAM workshop, students will have the opportunity to design their own robots, learn computer programming, and explore their imagination with low-cost, craft-paper designs. These robots are easy to build, modify, and repair, making them perfect tools for equipping students with vital 21st-century skills. Stay tuned for this exciting workshop where young innovators can bring their robotic visions to life!
🌉 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲!
Can a single sheet of A4 paper defy expectations? Participants stepped up to transform paper into a bridge that could span two platforms and carry the heaviest load of aluminum washers. Success relied on blending creativity with scientific principles like static equilibrium and force distribution. The challenge showed that even the simplest materials could become masterpieces of strength and ingenuity!
🏎️ 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀!
Participants embraced the thrill of designing cars using Lego-like pieces to tackle a 2.5-meter ramp. The goal? Glide their creations down the ramp and land them perfectly in a basket below-three flawless landings to claim the grand prize! Using the engineering design process, they brainstormed, built, tested, and refined their designs. Victory demanded sharp focus, steady hands, and a dash of zen-like calm. Only the most skillfully crafted and precisely launched cars earned the title of champion!
📚 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝘂𝗻 & 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀!
Parents and kids teamed up to refresh their English skills with exciting activities like searching for letters, unscrambling words, and guessing words in a lively charades game. These games were designed to make language learning engaging and fun while building vocabulary and communication skills for learners of all ages! 🎉📝
These hands-on activities highlight the power of 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in sparking curiosity, building problem-solving skills, and inspiring the next generation of innovators. Which of these challenges would you take on? 💡✨
