Little going away gathering at Costa...
We will be moving on Monday or Tuesday so I decided the best way to see everyone who wants to say goodbye is to meet somewhere central. So I will be at Costa near Four Seasons on Saturday between 4 and 7 p.m., upstairs. We will do it what you call American style where each pays for his/her own drink, okay? Hope to see you there.
What do you all think of meeting together in a coffee house, like Costa at Four Seasons for example, between 4 and 7 on Saturday for a farewell get-together? Let me know if this is a good idea or else Sunday is a possibility too, but I might be gone or busy by then.
There is another true story from World War One when French, British and German troops all stopped fighting each other on Christmas Eve and instead sang songs, shared meals, held a Christmas mass, and the next day played football and told each other stories of their lives and found friendship and understanding in the middle of a horrible war. It's depicted in the marvelous film, JOYEUX NOEL.
The fact that in the middle of trouble and worries our workshops went on and we made something beautiful in this time is, to me, a testimony of the resilience of the human spirit and its striving continually for beauty and self-expression. There's a great movie (sorry, I forgot the name) with Glenn Close, a true story of people imprisoned during WWII forming an orchestra using only their mouths and their memories.
Sometimes we feel guilty to have joy in a time of troubles but I see life as a railroad track with joy and sorrow happening simultaneously all around us and we can choose which one to focus on. It doesn't have to mean we ignore our own or others' pain, but we acknowledge that above the dark clouds the sun is always shining. It's not escapism; it's reality.

Congratulations to you all! Those who couldn't make it too.
Yesterday was sweet and sad as it was our last acting workhsop together for a while. I was so happy to spend that time with you and we did have fun, especially with a LINES ONSTAGE exercise and just being together. I love you all... a lot.
