“Winning Hearts After Victory: SSPDF Shows Compassion as Civilians Receive Food Aid and Rejoice in Liberated Pathai”

More Updates on the Re-liberation of Pathai

On 27 January 2026 at around 6:00 PM, the Pathai Military Outpost was re-liberated by SSPDF forces from SPLA-IO fighters following a brief but decisive engagement, which ended with the rebels’ defeat and retreat in disarray.

After mopping-up operations, battlefield searches, consolidation of gains, and the establishment of round-the-clock defensive positions, several significant findings were made. These included the recovery of the bodies of six fallen and abandoned rebel fighters, as well as large caches of ammunition, including rounds for 14.5mm and 12.7mm weapons, PKM light machine guns, and mortar shells.

During the operation, more than 20 women, girls, and children who had been abandoned by fleeing rebel fighters amid the chaos of battle were found. In full compliance with the SSPDF Rules of Engagement (ROE), the civilians were placed under protective custody overnight.

This afternoon, the civilians were formally handed over to Mr. Khor Den Chop, the Paramount Chief of the newly re-secured Payam of Pathai.

To ensure their immediate welfare, the SSPDF Mobile Directorate of Logistics distributed assorted food assistance, including maize flour, cooking oil, and other essential food items. The support was received with visible joy and relief, as the civilians expressed happiness and gratitude.

After receiving the food aid, the elated civilians peacefully departed to reunite with their families in villages surrounding Pathai town centre.

Once again, SSPDF forces are congratulated for the successful re-capture of Pathai and for demonstrating professionalism, discipline, high morale, strong civil-military relations, and compassion through humanitarian assistance to civilians affected by conflict.

BREAKING❗ Aweil Man Arrested for Killing Ex-Wife in Wanyjok

Police in Wanyjok have this afternoon, arrested a young man accused of killing his ex-wife, a day after their divorce was finalized at the county court.

According to a family member who spoke to YVN, the suspect attacked the woman at a tea shop and stabbed her in the chest with a knife.

Wanyjok police confirmed the arrest and urged the family of the deceased to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its course.
