At the point of death, a renowned civil servant, Tom Smith called his children and after praying for them, advised them to follow in his footsteps so that they can have peace of mind in life.
The eldest child, Elizabeth, a graduate, looked at the other siblings and yelled, "Daddy, it's unfortunate you are dying without a penny in your bank account. It is a pity you're leaving us the same wretched life you lived. Personally, I can't emulate you, she continued. Other fathers in the neighborhood that you tag as being corrupt, thieves of public funds left houses and properties for their children; See the kind of comfortable life they live and the schools they attend. You're dying after 35 years of public service with just one rickety car. The only honor u have in this room is the citation of an award you won as the best Public Service Accountant when we were not even born; Even this house we live in is a rented apartment, sorry, I can't emulate you. You're dying of a common disease and we can't even fly you outside the country as the others do. How can we cater to our mum and the little ones by living as you did in this part of the world..How? Daddy, please let's chart our own course, let's paddle our own canoe"
A few days later, their father gave up the spirit.
Three years after, Elizabeth finished her Masters's Degree. She applied for a job and went for an interview with a multinational company.
The interview panel had already penciled down a candidate for the highly coveted post but wanted to complete the formality of interviewing all applicants on the list.
As soon as Elizabeth sat before the interview panel, the Chairman of the committee looked through her CV, nodded, and asked,
"Hi Miss Smith, tell us a bit about yourself" and Elizabeth replied, "I am Elizabeth Smith. My Dad, the late Tom Smith was the Regional Head accountant of the National Insurance, and also served as Administrator of Public Health for many years...." But the Chairman cuts in, Oh my God, you are the daughter of Mr. Tom Smith? I can't believe it...He turned to other members and said "This Smith man was the one that signed my membership form into the Institute of Chartered Administrators when he served in our district in the North and his recommendation earned me where I am today. It was really difficult getting a man in such a high office to do that during those years. You needed to be rich to get your form signed but the amazing thing is, he did all these free. I didn't even know his address, he never knew me from Adam. He just did it for me. I returned to his office after a year only to hear he was transferred. That was it and I never heard from him again. He turned to Elizabeth; "I have no question for you, consider yourself as having gotten this job, resume tomorrow, your letter will be waiting for you. For how your dad remained honest and served everyone with diligence, I trust you'll follow his path in this job
Elizabeth Smith became the Corporate Affairs Manager of the company with two cars, one official and one for private use, attached to the office, with a duplex and two drivers and a salary of £250,000 per month excluding allowances and other costs when she travels outside the country
After two years of working in the company, the Group Managing Director of the company came from America to announce his intention to resign and needed a replacement. A personality with high integrity was sought after, again the company's Consultant nominated Elizabeth Smith
In an interview, she was asked about the secret of her success and the sudden skyrocketing profile. ...And in tears, she replied, my Daddy, paved these ways for me. It was after he died that I knew that he was financially poor but fabulously rich in integrity, discipline, and honesty. She was asked again, why she is weeping since she is no longer a kid and missed her dad still after a long time. She replied, "At the point of death, I insulted my dad for being an honest man of integrity. I hope he will forgive me in his grave now. I didn't work for all these, he did it for me to just walk in.
So finally she was asked," Will you follow your father's footsteps as he requested? And her simple answer was, "l have already been doing that. I have met a number of people after his death and I haven't seen or heard anyone say a word against my dad's life in public service. I now adore the man, I have a big picture of him in my living room and my office. He deserves whatever I have after God.
Are you like Tom Smith? It pays to build a name, the reward doesn't come quickly but it will come however long it may take and it lasts longer.
*WHAT LEGACY ARE YOU LAYING UP FOR YOUR CHILDREN?
Integrity, discipline, self-control, and fear of God make a man wealthy, not the fat bank account, luxurious cars, and mansions. Leave a good heritage for your children and the next generation. Are you building a good name for your children or a fat bank account? Money fades, fame goes, cars get out of the system but a good name stays on forever.
As an agent of CHANGE, please share and don't keep it to yourself; this is a true life story.
God bless you.
Good morning.
Praise the Lord,
How are you doing all in this Year, and I hope you are doing good.
Dear Friend, Someone's knocking!
Revelation 3:20-22 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”
The church at Laodicea received a stern warning in chapter 3 of John's Revelation. We would do well to reflect on it.
The word "Laodicea" is a compound in the Greek; “Laos” which principally means “people”, and “dike", defined as “principle or decision”. One rendering might read, “rule of the people”, or, in modern terms, “Democracy”. In the western world we have an affection and even a deep commitment to Democracy. Yet this form of government, "rule of the people" is fatally flawed... because we are fatally flawed by our sin nature, thinking we are self-sufficient and worldly wise, yet pitifully incapable of ruling righteously.
The Laodiceans apparently lived up to their name, trusting in their own resources, wisdom, and capacity, and assessing themselves as quite sufficient. "We are rich, increased with goods, and have need of nothing", they said. There are democracies and churches today that may be saying much the same. But trusting in their own sufficiency and judgment became a platform for excluding God so much at Laodicea that the Lord told them He was actually OUTSIDE the church, knocking, and desiring to come in! Think, how did a church become a place where the Lord was outside, looking in?
Dear Friend, we are learning of late not to expect too much from "democracy" as a form of government. That being the case, it should be even more evident that "Laodicean" churches (and Christians) are in serious trouble. Self-rule, self sufficiency and self satisfaction are deadly to spiritual life. God says these folks are "wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked". But Yeshua is standing at the door, longing for repentance and ready and able to deliver from self sufficiency and lukewarm faith. Can you hear Him knocking.
OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE
1 Samuel 15: 16-25
The children of Israel were stubborn and disobedient to the commands of the Lord. This made the Lord almost destroy them on several occasions. Thanks God for the intercessions of Moses. God requires total obedience from us. We can see from the story of the first king of Israel, how God instructed Saul to completely destroy the a malekites. But he kept back the best of the sheep and oxen and the goods of the land for himself, then claimed they were for offering to the Lord. But God made him to realize through prophet Samuel that He demanded total obedience, not mere sacrifice.

Matthew 2
IN THE COUNTRY far to the east of Judah there lived some wise men who studied the stars. One night they discovered a new star in the sky, one that they had never seen before. And God caused them to know by this star that Christ, the promised King of the Jews, had been born.
These wise men feared God, and they wished to see the child whom he had sent to be the Savior of the world. They supposed that the Jews must be very happy because God had at last sent to them the King he had promised.
Because these wise men were rich, they planned at once to make the long journey to Judah and bring precious gifts to the new-born King. Then they would worship him as their Savior.
For many days they traveled across the sandy desert, and at last they came to the fertile country where the Jews lived. They hurried on to the city of Jerusalem; for they expected to find the wonderful child living in the most beautiful place in the land. And surely Jerusalem, the famous city of the Jews, would be the most beautiful place.
Herod, the man whom the emperor of Rome had set up over the land of Judah, was living in Jerusalem at that time. He was surprised when these strangers, riding on camels, came into his city and asked, "Where is the child that is born King of the Jews? We have seen his star in the far east country, and have come to worship him."
Herod had heard nothing about this new-born King, and he was troubled. What could this mean? he wondered. And even the rich people in Jerusalem were puzzled, too. They had heard nothing about Jesus.
No doubt the wise men were disappointed when they found that the rulers of Jerusalem knew nothing about the birth of the Savior. Perhaps they feared that they might have been mistaken, after all. But they waited anxiously while Herod called the chief priests and the scribes and asked them where the Savior should be born.
Now the chief priests and scribes were the men who read th

" Let any man shut himself up for a week with only bread and water , with no book except the Bible, with no visitor except the Holy spirit , and I guarantee (you) my preaching brethren , that that man will either break up or break through and out . After that, like Paul , he will be known in hell" by Leonard Ravenhill.
We are called to represent Jesus Christ in all thing that's in our character , faith, love and hope.
God's calling is not to do something but call to be, that's to be obedient and finding fulfilment in God's desire and character not our.
God called many to obey and live in obedience and find fulfilment .
