Youth Office Yei Launches Youth Farming Initiative

The Youth Office in Yei is dedicated to the belief that feeding ourselves is a responsibility we cannot ignore, and the key to achieving this lies in practicing sustainable agriculture. With this in mind, we are excited to announce the launch of our Youth Farm and Agribusiness Incubation program.

Our goal is to challenge the negative perceptions that many young people have towards agriculture, while also increasing agricultural productivity and promoting inclusive and sustainable food systems. Thanks to the support from UNHCR through MASS, we are proud to announce the opening of 10 acres of youth farms in each of the 5 payams in Yei River County.

we will be enrolling individual and group youth farmers in Yei town to further expand our reach and impact. Our agency will be operational from Monday to Friday starting on March 25th- 30th March, 2024.

To all those who are scaring and condemning me for speaking out against the leaking of exam papers during the primary Eight exams in South Sudan that have brought a positive impact to our children now, I have a message for you.

Firstly, let me make it clear that my intention was never to cause suffering or harm to anyone. My appeal to the education sector was made with the sole purpose of ensuring a fair and just examination process for all students. It is disheartening to see that some individuals have chosen to twist my words and portray me as the reason for the strict measures taken to safeguard the senior four exams therefore if it's so let it be, for the glory of God and the development of south Sudan.

I want to express my utmost gratitude to the Minister of General Education for taking the bold step of implementing measures to prevent exam leaks and cheating. This is a significant move towards ensuring that South Sudan produces better graduates who will contribute to the development of our country. I appreciate the minister's commitment to upholding integrity in our education system.

However, it is unfortunate that some people have developed hate towards me, perceiving me as the cause of their suffering. Imagine on Friday I received more than 30 phone calls some of the calls to scare me. Let me remind you of a powerful quote by Bobi Wine, "if you stand for the truth, you better be ready to stand alone." As Barack Obama said, "we are the very people we have been waiting for to make change in America." The same applies to South Sudan. We are the very people we have been waiting for to make change in our country. I stand by my conviction that exposing the truth and fighting for fairness is essential for the progress of our nation.

I understand that some students may be angry with me, feeling sorry for themselves because they were unable to cheat or rely on leaked exam papers. However, cheating will never lead you anywhere.

Yei Joint Stars in serious crises

Yei Joint Stars, the super queens was crown as the champion of the South Sudan Women's League and Cup for three times in a row.

The super queens will be representing the nation in the upcoming CECAFA CAF Zonal Qualifiers 2023, this competition will kick off from the 12/08/2023 in Kampala Uganda.

The super queens arrived to their camp this morning and they are camping next to Buluk playing ground.

The uncertainity hit the Yei Joint Stars after their board members resigned from their duties with unspecified reasons according to reports.

The team is left in the hands of Mr. Bida Morris, Mr. Elly Sebit and Nicholas who are taking charge of the team ahead of their trip to the international duty.

Mr. Bida Morris calls for support which may be in cash, training materials, food items and any kind of support to enable the players go for their competition.

The team may travel this Sunday from Juba to Uganda on land therefore, they are arguing the fans, well wishers from the business community, community members, companies and NGOs to interven in this critical situation facing the Yei Joint Stars.

NEVER BEG ANYONE TO LOVE YOU RIGHT

After break up with you or made it very clear that you're not the one they want to be with, it is very important for you to cut-off every channel of communication with them. They may say, "Okay, we can still be friends." While this may be true, what you need immediately after a breakup is healing, not the friendship of someone you love who no longer loves you. If you agree to be friends with them, you'll be constantly hurting.

Whatever they do for you thereafter is from a place pity not love. The problem here is, you don't need their pity because their pity will stop you from healing. What you need in those moments is to be faraway from them. Cutoff all ties. Do not let them in on your feelings or next move. Don't allow them to pretend to care about you because they don't. Stop opening up your feelings to them by saying things such as; "I still love you..I still have feelings for you..and all. You need to show character. Shut them out totally from your life until after you have healed completely.

When you've healed and are independently happy, you may wish to be friends with them again. It is very important to know that to do all the things I have highlighted will not be easy. But it's in your best long term interest. It is very important for you to be strong and even to pretend to be happy after a break up.

With reference to match report dated 27th/May/2023, the Organising committee, held a meeting on Sunday 28th/May/2023 at 2:00 PM to look into the matter of the match between Tore Payam Boys Team Vs Yei Town Payam Boys with in the Match reports indicate that the match was not played due to argument between both teams before the kickoff, Hence the center referee called off the game after waiting for 15 minutes plus 1 additional minutes both Tore Payam players and Yei Town Payam Players didn’t enter the field of play and the game was considered unplayed

After deliberations the organizing committee found out the following
The Yei town payam went with Uniform of a registered Football club with a sponsorship logo instead of the plain uniforms provided.
Tore Payam Team involved themselves fully in arguing directly with the Yei Town Payam Team instead of allowing the organizing committee to handle the matter making it hard for the game to start.

The donors of the UN Multi Donor Trust Fund who financed the Reconciliation Stabilization and Resilience projects in Yei, Lainya, Morobo and Kajokeji visited Yei from yesterday 23rd May 2023 to 26th May 2023 in order to assess the impact of the projects and review priorities for next funding in Phase II proposal expectations.

The delegation of three Diplomatic Missions in South Sudan comprised of Mr Gabriel Leonte from EU, Chantal Zimmermann from Canada, Joyce King and Diana Modong from Switzerland and accompanied Officials from the UN Multi Donor Trust Fund, IOM, CEPO, Fin Church Aid, WPDI and SPEDP.

The donors appreciated the warm welcome accorded to them on arrival, the extent at which the RSR Projects have achieved in Stabilizing Security through the Civil-Military Relationships creation and the impact on enabling peaceful return.

From our side as a government, I welcomed the donor delegation to Yei and appreciated the project's approach which is people's driven by addressing issues identified and actions taken as solutions proposed and acted upon by the people, unlike humanitarian concepts of providing services that are not necessarily people's choices. The approach is people's led, practiced, acceptable and easily owned and maintained by the people. Because of this, we have achieved greatly as people and government.

I then requested for a shift from restoration of peace to more focus on livelihood and economic recovery through food production and industrialization and service infrastructure development.

YRC-YA with support from IoM has organized an Inter-payam peace tournament as a prearrangement pursuant to a civic engagement with youths at a 3 days symposium in February 2022, which disclosed the torn Social fabrics due to suspicion and lost trust among the youths and communities members in pretext that, most of the perpetrators of violence during the conflict were youths and this has inflicted a huge social pressure on the young people in Yei. In this concern, youths remain the majority population destructively affected by the conflict .Youths and community member's participation in this peace tournament shall be a determinant to restore and strengthen Youth relationship for peaceful coexistence with the theme: ‘Creating opportunity for Youths participation in promoting peace, reconciliation and resilience for development.’
The objective of this peace tournament is:-
To promote peace and social cohesion.
To strengthen civil military relations.
To promote integration of returnees and build confidence.
To create an environment for economic development for self-reliance.
The inter-payam peace tournament will start with friendly match between Youth and Organized Force scheduled Wednesday May 24th 2023 at yei freedom squire of Yei River County and will involve frequent visits to the five payams of Yei River County.

MY WIFE TORTURES ME

I'm 33 and my wife is 24 My father in law is a rich businessman. He gave us a well built plot and we lived peacefully until our first daughter came into the world. When I get home from work, my wife forces me to take care of the child.

GOVERNMENT APPROVES SSP 3.6 BILLION FOR DEPLOYMENT OF UNIFIED FORCES

The Council of Ministers on Friday approved SSP 3.6 billion to facilitate the deployment of the first batch of the necessary unified forces.

Addressing the media after the meeting, the Minister of Information, Michael Makuei, said the Ministry of Finance and Planning has been directed to release the approved amount of SSP 3671,588.1000 immediately.

He said the budget proposal to complete the security arrangement process was presented to the cabinet by the minister of peacebuilding, Stephen Par.

“The security arrangement is divided into two, phases: phase one and phase two. So, he presented the budget for phase two, which was for buying food and other arrangements for the deployment of the graduated forces for phase one,” Makuei explained.

He added that the Phase 2 budget was passed to the minister of finance to be included in the budget of 2023–2024.

Also, Makuei said the ministry of parliamentarian affairs was demanding the payment of SSP 270 million for the completion of training for the legislators and their staff in the states.

He said the request has been passed by the cabinet, and the minister of finance has been directed to pay accordingly.

In a related development, Makuei stated that the minister of transport had requested the cabinet approve the civil authority as autonomous.

According to Makuei, the minister requested that the finance ministry pay the arrears of the companies or international organisations that are working with the Ministry of Transport.

In 2022, South Sudan graduated over 50,000 security personnel to join various ranks within the sector. However, their deployment has been riddled with delays as the government continues to decry the lack of arms to equip the officers. The government has blamed the gap on the existing arms embargo imposed on the country by the UN Security Council, which prohibits the procurement of weapons and some military upplies.

Last week, South Sudan, through the ministry of foreign affairs and international corporations, protested an alleged report by the UN Panel of Experts claiming that the country had flouted the arms embargo through the procurement of some military supplies equipment, including vehicles, in preparation for the deployment of peacekeeping forces in DR Congo.

“We have not bought any armoured vehicles, and let them (UN panel) tell us the companies or the manufacturer of those armoured carriers,” said Deng Dau, the acting minister of foreign affairs and international corporation, as he responded to the alleged report.

“Also, as a government, we have not seen that report from the UN experts on South Sudan.”

Deng argued that the SSPDF was not an army that started yesterday, saying the army started a long time ago during the liberation struggle and had equipment at its disposal. He said what is being used currently are old stocks they obtained during the struggle.

👉 Britain’s King Charles was crowned Saturday in Westminster Abbey, like so many of the country’s monarchs before him. The last coronation was 70 years ago when Charles’ mother, Elizabeth, was crowned.

The lavish affair was awash in robed clergy, prayers, majestic music and the high-pitched singing voices of young boys and girls.

The coronation is a weekend-long affair with many activities planned. While it is reported to be a scaled back version of what was originally planned, it is still believed to carry a multi-million-dollar price tag for the British taxpayers.

Charles is the first monarch to pray aloud at his coronation. His prayer said in part: “Grant that I may be a blessing to all thy children, of every faith and belief, that together we may discover the ways of gentleness and be led into the paths of peace.”

Millions of people around the world were able to witness the coronation on television and the internet.
