Committee managing Electricity dissolved

Yei River County Commissioner, Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa, has cancelled the overnight Committee that manages Yei Electricity Cooperative - YECO.

According to the order, dated June 22nd, new arrangements have been made with the Association of Business Community- ABC.

The order took effect from the issuance date.

However, the provisional order cited number 21 this year, provided no reasons for the cancellation.

Since the start of 2013 conflict, YECO have had intermittent operations. The management had long blamed it on the effect of the war and the economic crisis.

"There is discrimination sometimes when it comes to employment of people. And this issue needs to be addressed,” Gola Boyoi, National Youth Union Chairperson told Eye Radio

Friction resulting from the crisis is now a cause of concern in the country. Killings in the name of unemployment are soaring. Some humanitarian workers have already lost their lives. Tribal and nepotistic unemployment are some of the claims being made.
