🔴 South Sudan Trial Update

The special court handling the high-profile case involving suspended FVP Dr. Riek Machar, Puot Kang, and others resumes its 69th session today.

The court is set to:
• Re-examine the prosecution’s digital expert
• Allow judges to question the same expert

Justice Minister Michael Makuei Lueth says the trial—though delayed—is now nearing completion after briefing President Salva Kiir.

Dr. Machar, under house arrest since March 2025, faces serious charges including treason, murder, terrorism, and crimes against humanity, alongside senior SPLM-IO officials.

The case relates to the March 2025 Nasir garrison attack, where over 250 soldiers were reportedly killed.

Despite international pressure, including calls from the African Union, proceedings continue as South Sudan heads toward December 2026 elections.
