Life is so ironic to understand fully, it take sadness to know what is happiness. Better die stand than to kneel
It has been very clear over the years that South Sudan’s Salva Kiir treats the country, government and people, like his own property, he does not even pretend anymore the way he did in the past when he acted as if he cared about the institutions of the state, about the supremacy of the rule of law, or when he appeared to care about the balance of powers. Nowadys, he does not give an iota of care about meritocracy, about the vetting of public officials he appoints into high office by oversight institutions like the parliament, he does not worry about the way national resources are used by his officials.
There is no more pretense to make his appointment of officials look like a legitimate constitutional processes, where parliament and advisors are consulted, where the ruling party has any say on government public policies. These days President Kiir is emboldened to appoint people and fire them whimsically, no apparent rationale, no specific agenda that requires certain skills, no budget, no holding accountable those he fires on accusations of misconduct in office, no clear direction for the country. Nowadays, it’s just Kiirdit and his two daughters, his one notorious girlfriend and a couple of compromised lobbyists deciding the fate of our country through destruction of national institutions! And people are quiet, it’s the country they deserve!
