The relationship we (DARD) build with our partners and collaborators allow us to leverage resources and extend our reach, to nurture the capacities of marginalized groups and to widen the impact of our policy work.

The capital residing within DARD's partnerships is one of the most important assets we have. This capital includes our partners' knowledge, skills and capacities; organizational and personal connections and thematic diversity; access to policy areas; links to marginalized groups, rightfulness and synergy. Our greatest assets!

DARD in Partnership with Oxfam in South Sudan through DANIDA CIV project have today concluded 3 days training of Peace Monitoring Committee of Pakam, Rup and Kuei sections of Rumbek North and Rumbek Center respectively.
The training was aiming on strengthening the capacity of Peace Monitoring Committee to be "Ambassadors of Peace" within the communities and their neighbors.
During closure the 3 days training, the Peace Monitoring Committee requested State Government through the Minister of Peacebuilding and Community Cohesion to facilitate dialogue between Gok of Cueibet and Rumbek Centre and North respectively. KURIGF through Oxfam has already taken great steps for dialogue between Cueibet and Rumbek/North.
This was a great gesture of peace from Gelweng Peace Committee which they rarely do before they were taken through such training.

Hosted today by eye Radio-South Sudan Juba on the "Peace of her Mind episode". We focus on the rights of people with disabilities and what they can contribute to the societies in South Sudan.

The ended with awakening call on the people with disabilities and their supporters to be "Self-advocates".
For the people with disabilities to be self-advocate means to:
1) make decisions and solve problems on their own
2) Speak assertively for themselves
3) Know their rights and responsibilities as citizens and
4) make productive contributions to their communitie.

This is the most innovative process of empiwerment. Pepole with disabilities can become self-determined, assertive and contributing members of the society.

Let's stand up for our rights, make sure other people understand what we need and want. Openly and honestly, let's express our opinions and feelings; respect and support other people's rights and opinions and listen to other people. Assertive people feel good , honest, respected, and proud of themselves. Other people see them as capable, able to make decisions, independent, adult, honest and appropriate.

I urge the organisations of people with disabilities to play a bigger role in advocating collectively for their rights.

Let 's wake up and make our voice matters. Nothing for us without us.
