ETHIOPIA PEACE TALKS OPEN IN SOUTH AFRICA
Wednesday || 26th || October || 2022
The Pretoria dialogue represents the first publicly announced talks between the rivals, although a Western official has confirmed that secret contacts had taken place organised by the United States in the Seychelles and twice in Djibouti.
Abiy first sent troops into Tigray in November 2020, promising a quick victory over the northern region's dissident leaders, the TPLF, after what he said were attacks by the group on federal army camps.
The move followed long-running tensions with the TPLF, which had dominated Ethiopia's ruling coalition before Abiy came to power in 2018 and sidelined the party.
In a rare comment on the conflict last week, Abiy -- who won the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for his rapprochement with Eritrea -- said the war "would end and peace will prevail".
But on Monday, Tigray's leader Debretsion Gebremichael issued a defiant statement saying: "The Tigray army has the capacity to defeat our enemies totally."
Amnesty International on Monday urged rival forces to protect civilians in the face of intensifying hostilities.
In a statement, the watchdog charged that air strikes on Tigray's capital Mekele and the town of Adi Daero in August and September had "killed hundreds of civilians including children."

Gov. Louis Lobong speaks outloud about constitutional rights to settle anywhere in South Sudan. "The constitution says, you as individual have right to settle and live anywhere in South Sudan but it doesn't say tribe", he stresses in simple Arabic as he receives applauds from the congregation.
He also advises people to refrain derogatory utterances such as "I fought and we shed blood". Accordig to him, that doesn't give any community superiority over another. He stressed that every community contributed in the liberation struggle.

I captured this picture of the late Haacaaluu Hundeessaa exactly on this day, March 2, 2019. This picture was shared by millions of his fans, millions made this picture their profile picture, many artists drew and painted the picture, some got the picture tattooed on their bodies, many printed on their T-shirts…..and most of all in their hearts.
One of my fond memories of our conversation we had that day when I approached him to take his picture, Hacee told me ‘’ GURBAA SUURA SEENAA QABU NAKAASIGAA” patting my shoulder . 😭😭
Adwa reminds me of the fearless heroes who died for their people. For me Haacaaluu Hundeessaa was one of them. Keep Resting in Peace, Legend!!🙏🏿🙏🏿
VIA ONE AFRICA
At the Himba of Namibia in Southern Africa, the date of birth of a child is fixed, not at the time of its arrival in the world, nor in its design, but much earlier: since the day the child is thought in His Mother's mind.⠀
When a woman decides she's going to have a child, she settle down and rests under a tree, and she listens until she can hear the song of the child who wants to be born. And after she heard this child's song, she comes back to the man who will be the father of the child to teach him that song. And then, when they make love to physically design the child, they sing the song of the child, to invite him.⠀
When the mother is pregnant, she teaches the singing of this child to the midwives and older women of the village. So, when the child is born, old women and people around him sing his song to welcome him.⠀
As the child grows, the other villagers learn his song. So if the child falls, or gets hurt, he always finds someone to pick him up and sing his song. Similarly, if the child does something wonderful, or successfully passes through the rites of passage, the people of the village sing his song to honor him.⠀
In the tribe, there is another opportunity where villagers sing for the child. If, at any time during his life, the person commits an aberrant crime or social act, the individual is called in the center of the village and the people of the community form a circle around him. Then they sing his song.⠀
The tribe recognizes that the correction of antisocial behavior does not pass through punishment, it is by love and reminder of identity. When you recognize your own song, you don't want or need to do anything that would harm the other.⠀
And the same way through their lives. In Marriage, songs are sung together.⠀
And when, getting old, this kid is lying in his bed, ready to die, all the villagers know his song, and they sing, for the last time, his song. 🎶💞

There's no reason our people should die of starvation, curable diseases or drink dirty water. Our youth must unite and rise beyond their Age-set differences to bring into surface the wealth God has placed under Pibor belly.

IS BROMANCE OVER OR KUOL IS TESTING WATERS OVER?
BY SIMON YEL YEL
Unless you're living in Mars, otherwise, you may be a fool to think that Kuol is a victim of the alleged invisible barricade being erected inside the Palace. No, he is just cunningly playing a victim card to garner our sympathy. And that makes a breaking news for you if are not a born again SPLM(er). Otherwise, for those of us, who could read writings on the wall, the bromance between Kuol and President is over.
But I wonder, why is Kuol so obsessed with wanting always to guide every power transition? Does he want to be captured in the prologue and appendixes as a superb kingmaker in the history book of the SPLM? No, someone must remind him that the Movement isn't a one man show. Gone are those days!
To jog your memory, since the beginning of 2020, the twin Generals have been excessively, if not unnecessary, using the media to air out their ambiguous concerns instead of meeting and telling the President what's on their minds. And this constantly raises eyebrows and made people to wonder of what really happened to a man who was once rumored to have forcefully told the President Kiir to stand up and sit on the chair- assuming the leadership of the Movement, in the leadership meeting at New Site. Because of this, does he think that it is his birthright to always nominate or endorse the leader? No, I don't think so. And therefore, his call on his colleagues to relinquish power insinuates the Generational Exit under the pretext of "we have done our best". Methinks retirement is a personal choice.
However, the last straw that broke the camel's back is his recent interview with Samuel Mach. Read these excepts, and be a judge of own.
1. " *I told the President Kiir that it's time for us to relinquish the power and give it to the young people...… "*
2. *"Something that we haven't done in the last 17 years, are we really sure that we can do it tomorrow...?"*
3. *"I had told the President Kiir and Dr. John Garang, one time, that once we liberated the country, I wouldn't want to be in the executive, but I want to be a farmer - private sector...."*
4. *"Of course Salva is younger than myself, I was born in 1945, and he was born in 1951...."*
5. *"..... as Salva is saying that there's a looming information that people are working and supporting Kuol to compete with him or I don't know, and to go and talk publicly on that it means that he believes it........ "*
6. *" Some people want this to be a family issue, some people would think that they are the ones in J1 and they must also command the Army, they must control the National security, and the Police...... "*
And there's more. However, going by his statements, the history judges the good General so harshly. This is because he had never resigned or refused any assignment since 2005, and indeed, after the independence. And the evidence is that he now sits on the PB. And holds other more positions.
Also, we can vividly recall how Gen. Late George Athor lost his life. It was because of gubernatorial election, pitting him and Gen. George. If Kuol really had wanted to retire and join the Private sector, why did he contest or continue to be in active politic now? In a good faith, he would have emulated Hon. Nunu by accepting the defeat for peace to prevail in Jonglei state. But we all know what happened: the rebellion of David Yau Yau, Gen. Athor, and other communal conflicts.
Interestingly, when his names didn't feature in the first cabinet of R-TGoNU, in 2020, he publicly complained in his interview. And that let to his current assignment. So, it means that Kuol is not honest with his good self. He loves power, and wants to be in the inner circle of power. She shouldn't remind us of his own dishonored statement during the liberation.
On point number 6, it's clear that the characters in this statement are people of a certain region, Barh El Ghazal, in particular. The President, who's in J1, the Chief of Defense Forces, the IGP, and DG of National Security, all hail from Barh El Ghazal. And that's the point he was hitting at. You may sophistry make an argument in its denial, but it's fact that Kuol is playing a regional politics. I will not spin much on this statement for it's self-explanatory. I will leave it for readers to judge what Gen. Kuol wants to achieve.
If Kuol well knows that he is older than President Kiir, then why can't he honorably retire in peace? He and his friends made President Kiir failed in the last 17 years. And should they go home by now, believe you me, Kiir will coalesce a strong team and perform very highly. Therefore, Kuol must not always speak from both sides of his mouth. If he wants to retire, he better does it peacefully, rather than causing havoc. And if he wants to face President Kiir head-on, he should openly declare his interest and avoid these sideshows.
Yes, I know that he is among the living dead heroes (people who claimed to have died during the liberation but still alive), but it's disgrace to the Movement if such leaders would always want to take the country to war and instability because of their egos. Bromance between President Kiir and Kuol is over!
