Two Killed in Separate Attacks, Bodies Kept at Juba Funeral Home
At least two individuals, identified as William Yual Agoth (soldier) and Agoth Ateny (civilian), were killed in separate attacks in late March.
According to chairpersons from the Aweil East Community and the Lou Aguer Geng Community, who visited the bodies at the Juba Funeral Home on Monday, the remains will be transported to Aweil after court proceedings are completed and the suspects are formally identified.
Tito Awen Bol, a representative and Chairperson of the Electoral Committee of the Lou Aguer Geng Community Welfare Association, stated that Yual Agoth was killed in Yei, while Agoth Ateny was killed at Stop Dinka prior to the Khor-Kaltan incident last month.
Speaking to the media, Amb. Garang Deng Aguer revealed that the perpetrators behind both killings have reportedly been apprehended and are awaiting trial. He further noted that Yual Agoth, a First Lieutenant, was allegedly killed on the orders of a division commander.
Amb. Deng urged the Aweil community to remain calm as the relevant authorities and community leaders handle the matter.
“We want to urge the people of Aweil to remain calm as we are determined to follow up on the case. We are making the necessary arrangements to transport the bodies, and we will hold funeral prayers here in Juba. We hope the perpetrators will be disclosed on that day,” he said.
Both Yual Agoth and Agoth Ateny hail from the Lou Aguer Geng community in Aweil East County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

Ghana is set to receive 100 new Metro Mass buses from Egypt to help improve public transport across the country.
For some time now, there have been not enough buses, which has caused long waiting times and higher fares, especially during rush hours. These new buses are meant to reduce that pressure.
The government actually plans to bring in over 300 buses by the end of the year, and this first batch of 100 is just the beginning.
The buses are modern 29-seaters with better technology. The companies that made them will help maintain them for the first year, while Ghanaian engineers are trained to handle everything afterward.
Also, Metro Mass workshops will be stocked with spare parts to make repairs faster and keep the buses running smoothly.
More buses from private companies are also expected soon as part of efforts to fix Ghana’s transport system.

UPDATE: Reports from Mangol Apuk Venue by Mangol Payam Football Team assistant coach, Mr. Piol Piol
Greetings to all, I am writing to share a firsthand report from my visit today to the Mangol Apuk playground, the designated venue for our upcoming 2025 Olympics. My goal is to provide clear, transparent information to everyone invested in the success of our games.
HERE ARE MY DIRECT OBSERVATIONS:
1. Access is Assured:
The route to the field is fully open and accessible.Vehicles, motorcycles, and pedestrians can all make the journey, including crossing the Akuol-Agoth waters. Logistics for travel to Mangol Apuk are viable.
2. Security is Stable:
Let me be unequivocal:the rumors of insecurity in Mangol Apuk are false. From what I witnessed, these appear to be harmful propaganda spread by individuals with personal agendas against hosting the Olympics here. Do not be misled. The environment is secure for our games.
3. Positive Development:
Starlink high-speed WiFi is already installed in the area. This is a fantastic asset that will benefit media, coordination, and all participants.
I am fully confident that the Apuk Olympics 2025 will and should be held in Mangol Apuk. However, confidence alone is not enough. We must now match it with concentrated work.
This is a collective mission. Let’s unite to finish the work.
For any questions or clarification, I am available directly.

Lawyer Adhet beaten at Juba Police Station over forced marriage case
A popular lawyer, Josephine Adhet Deng, says she was beaten inside a Juba police station on Wednesday by men she claims were sent by a former Warrap State governor, Gen. Manhiem Bol Malek, over a long-running forced marriage case involving a teenage girl.
According to Radio Tamazuj’s reports, Adhet said she had gone to the Northern Division Police Station to respond to accusations of kidnapping the girl, who is under the protection of the Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare. She said after giving her statement, about eight men attacked her at the station gate in the presence of police officers. She later sought medical treatment and opened a separate assault case.
The case began in 2022 when the girl, then 14, fled an arranged marriage and sought help to continue her education. An agreement was reached allowing her to study and placing her under Adhet’s guardianship. However, in 2025, the family allegedly renewed pressure to marry her off in exchange for cattle and a car.
In November, Adhet claims the girl was forcibly removed from her school and later taken from a police station by her uncles. The girl later escaped again and reported to the Ministry of Gender, which confirmed it is handling the case.
An uncle of the girl, MP Jok Dut Malek, denied knowledge of the marriage case. Gen. Manhiem Bol Malek could not be reached for comment.
South Sudan’s constitution guarantees free consent in marriage, but enforcement remains weak. Adhet says she will continue defending the girl’s right to education despite threats and violence.
