U.S. warns travelers: child support debt can affect your passport
The U.S. State Department says citizens who owe over $2,500 in child support may have their passports denied or revoked until the debt is cleared.
Those affected must pay through their state agency, and processing updates can take 2–3 weeks.
Americans abroad may only receive limited-validity passports for return travel while repayment is verified.

Juba International Airport Terminal Renovation Progress Under Review During Oversight Visit
The ongoing renovation of the terminal building at Juba International Airport received renewed attention on Wednesday when Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak, visited the site to assess the status of works and overall project performance.
During the visit, Gatluak was welcomed by the Director General of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA), Ayiei Garang Deng, alongside senior aviation officials overseeing the project.
According to SSCAA, the inspection was conducted to monitor progress, evaluate adherence to construction plans, assess timelines, and address any operational challenges affecting the renovation works.
The visit also aimed to ensure that the project aligns with government expectations and international aviation standards.
While touring the facility, Gatluak moved through several sections of the terminal currently under development, receiving detailed briefings from engineers, contractors, and airport management on the level of completion achieved so far and projections for final delivery.
Authorities from the Civil Aviation Authority reported that the project has recorded notable progress, with several areas of the terminal approaching completion. They also noted that safety conditions at the construction site remain generally satisfactory.
Once completed, the upgraded terminal is expected to significantly enhance passenger handling capacity, improve service delivery, and modernize South Sudan’s principal international airport.
The SSCAA emphasized that the oversight visit demonstrates government commitment to ensuring quality infrastructure delivery and timely completion of the project.
It further stressed the importance of sustained coordination among stakeholders and continued supervision to guarantee that the renovation is finalized within the planned schedule and meets required standards.

CTSAMVM has warned that South Sudan's security situation remains fragile and unpredictable despite ongoing peace efforts.
During a meeting in Juba, Chairperson Maj. Gen. Teshome Anagawe Ayana highlighted several security incidents, including civilian killings, attacks on construction workers, and clashes involving SSPDF and SPLM/A-IO forces.
The ceasefire monitoring body says these incidents demonstrate the need for stronger confidence-building measures and greater commitment by all parties to the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
CTSAMVM also welcomed the SSPDF leadership's recent reaffirmation of commitment to the peace process and called on all signatories to fully respect the permanent ceasefire.

Experts Push for Practical Solutions to End South Sudan’s Prolonged Transition
The Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS), with support from United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) , has launched a three-day workshop in Juba to assess South Sudan’s peace process and explore pathways toward sustainable peace, democratic governance, and a successful transition.
Speaking at the event, Dr. John G*i Yoh called for realistic solutions to address challenges delaying the implementation of the peace agreement and help the country move beyond repeated extensions of the transitional period.
Graham Maitland noted progress in reducing large-scale violence but emphasized that key tasks—including constitution-making, security reforms, governance reforms, and election preparations—remain unfinished ahead of the planned December 2026 elections.
Meanwhile, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas urged stakeholders to embrace dialogue, maintain peace, and work toward credible elections that reflect the aspirations of the South Sudanese people.

Adut Salva Kiir Sponsors Treatment of Infant Survivor of Tonj East Attack
Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programs, Adut Salva Kiir, has pledged to fully support the medical treatment and care of an infant who survived a deadly attack in Tonj East County that claimed the lives of his parents and two-year-old sister.
The baby suffered a gunshot wound to the head after suspected cattle raiders attacked a cattle camp during the night.
On Tuesday, Adut dispatched a team to visit the child in Juba and assured family members that she would personally cover all medical expenses and caregiving costs.
The infant was airlifted to Juba on Monday and is expected to be transferred to Nairobi for specialized treatment as he continues his recovery.

GOVERNOR RIEK G*I OPENS WORKSHOP ON HUMANITARIAN ACCESS AND CIVILIAN PROTECTION IN JONGLEI
The Governor of Jonglei State, Dr. Riek G*i Kok, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to working closely with humanitarian partners to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development across the state.
Speaking during the opening of a two-day Stakeholder Engagement Workshop on Humanitarian Access and Protection of Civilians in Bor on Tuesday, Governor Riek called on participants to develop practical solutions that will strengthen peace, unity, and cooperation among communities and humanitarian actors.
He also raised concerns over challenges affecting humanitarian operations, including disagreements on security measures and the enforcement of national laws, stressing the government's responsibility to prevent harmful substances such as illegal drugs from reaching communities.
The workshop brought together county commissioners, government officials, humanitarian organizations, and development partners to discuss ways of improving humanitarian access and protecting civilians in Jonglei State.
UNMISS Civil Affairs Representative, Khalifa Para, commended the state government for its cooperation with humanitarian agencies and reiterated UNMISS' commitment to supporting peacebuilding and development efforts in the state.
