Interpretation of the Lango Calendar by Olara Aliardo Adelio, Head Teacher of Logire Kakak Primary School, during the celebration of International Mother Tongue Day in Ikwoto yesterday.
Mr. Olara is among the dedicated Lango vernacular teachers who successfully completed the Teachers’ Introductory Training conducted in Ikwoto with the support of our technical partners, SIL. His presentation demonstrated how trained local educators are now confidently teaching and interpreting the Lango language using culturally grounded tools such as the Lango calendar.
This achievement clearly shows that donor support is translating into real, measurable outcomes:
✔ trained teachers
✔ improved local language instruction
✔ active community participation
✔ preservation of Lango cultural heritage
We are deeply grateful to our committed team and partners whose efforts ensure that the Lango language is not only preserved but actively passed on to the next generation.

Live from the heart of Ikwoto!
The celebration of International Mother Tongue Day took place today at the premises of AIC Primary School as part of our literacy program.
The event brought together pupils and teachers from most primary schools within the town to commemorate the importance of mother languages and cultural identity.
Today’s celebration was marked by:
a.Reading competitions
b.Motivational speeches delivered by community elders.
c. Display of Lango artefacts
d. Hand-drawn advocacy posters promoting the use and preservation of the Lango language.
This year’s celebration was held under the theme:
“My Language is My Identity: Protect Lango for Generations to Come.”
The Lango Language Committee in Ikwoto observed the day on 27th February, instead of the official international date of 21st February, in order to align with local community arrangements.
Congratulations to all participants and organisers.
Indeed, let us protect and promote the Lango language for future generations to come.

Orthography review process has come into an halt today. This brought the discovery of three new vowels in Lango language hence Lango has ten vowels. Which make total of number 32 letters.
