Shandong Hi-speed - South Sudan

On 2 July, a senior South Sudanese government delegation led by Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak, Minister of Roads and Bridges, accompanied by Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Minister of Interior, Minister of Transport, and Minister of Humanitarian affairs & Disaster Management of the South Sudanese government, together with Mr. MA Wenjun, Charge d’Affaires of Chinese Embassy in South Sudan, inspected the tarmac road all the way to Terekeka. The delegation paid a visit to the completed 6 bridges and 117 culverts constructed along the road and the Terekeka round-about which is almost completed. Substantial progress has been made in spite of all the challenges especially the delayed cash flow.
The Ministers have highly commended the high standard of the road construction and emphasized on the importance of this road to the security, connectivity, humanitarian and trade development in South Sudan.
Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak, said the completion of this road will reduce the commodity price and play a greater role in trade development along the road, and he appreciated the effort, perseverance and high-standard work of the Contractor on completing the Juba-Terekeka section, and also extended his gratitute toward the support from Chinese government on infrastructure development in the country including the Jur River Bridge and other projects.
Mr. MA Wenjun, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Juba, said it’s the first time that he traveled from Juba and arrived in Terekeka within only 40 minutes, and he praised that such progress is the symbol of development, prosperity and an important milestone in the peace process in South Sudan when the country is about to celebrate its 11th anniversary of founding.

The destination will be reached in spite of the winding road.
