Doctors in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, particularly in Aweil, staged a protest this afternoon over unpaid salaries. The demonstration comes after a delay by the government in settling their wages.

Speaking to Aweil News Agency, the head of the ongoing protest at Aweil Civil Hospital, Dr. Adil John, said the demonstration was organized to demand payment of their outstanding salaries.

He confirmed that the protest was peaceful and that no injuries were reported. “Yes, there is an ongoing protest today due to unpaid salaries. We are requesting the government to pay what is due to us,” Dr. Adil stated.

The protest, however, left many patients stranded at the hospital without receiving medical treatment.
