International Day to Protect Education from Attack

Today, we stand in solidarity with learners, educators, and communities across Somalia and beyond who continue to defend the right to education in the face of violence, displacement, and systemic neglect.

Education is not a luxury it is a lifeline. In flood-prone villages, IDP camps, and conflict-affected districts, Somali children dream of classrooms not just with books, but with safety, dignity, and hope.

At Diversity Inclusion Network (DIN) Somalia, we believe that protecting education means:

👉Shielding schools from armed conflict and political violence
👉Ensuring inclusive, culturally respectful learning spaces for all especially girls and marginalized groups
👉Amplifying community voices to hold duty-bearers accountable
👉Building coalitions that center Somali values and global human rights

Let this day be a call to action not just remembrance. We urge humanitarian actors, government leaders, and civil society to prioritize education in emergency response, anticipatory action, and long-term recovery.

✅ Because every child deserves to learn without fear.
✅ Let’s protect education together.

Diversity Inclusion Network (DIN) team is honored to participate in three-days training hosted by IOM in partnership with RSM in Mogadishu, focusing on:

🔹 Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)
🔹 Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
🔹 Protection Mainstreaming
🔹 Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)

This timely and transformative training brings together humanitarian actors committed to safeguarding dignity, promoting accountability, and embedding protection across all sectors. For DIN, it’s more than capacity building it’s a reaffirmation of our values: inclusion, empathy, and community-led resilience.

Grateful to IOM Somalia partnership for creating space for reflection, learning, and collaboration. Together, we’re shaping a humanitarian response that listens, protects, and uplifts.

International Day of Peace 21st September 2024

At DiN, we believe that diversity and inclusion are the cornerstones of a peaceful society. By embracing our differences and fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding, we can build a stronger, more cohesive community.

As we commemorate this day, we call upon all to embrace the principles of unity and reconciliation. Let us work together to bridge divides, resolve conflicts, and create an environment where peace is not just a distant dream but a living reality for all.

May this International Peace Day inspire us all to continue striving for a world where peace and inclusivity are the foundations of our society.
