❌We call for ZERO tolerance to Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) in Somaliland.

No Sunna. No medicalization. No exceptions.

All forms of are harmful and constitute a serious violation on the human rights, health, dignity, and bodily integrity of girls and women. There is no religious, cultural, or medical justification for this practice.

We call on the Parliament of Somaliland to adopt and enforce comprehensive legislation that criminalizes all forms of FGM, ensuresaccountability, and provides survivor-centered support.

FGM is violence. It must end now.

Sexual violence in is on the rise. Legal gaps, social stigma, and the continued exclusion of women from political decision-making are fueling harm, while backlash against women’s rights is deepening survivors’ vulnerability and impunity for perpetrators.

Our member organization WHEEA.org has released a powerful briefing paper, “The Cost of Backlash: How Rollbacks on Women’s Rights Deepen Sexual Violence in Hargeisa.”

Drawing on consultations with internally displaced women and women activists, the paper exposes how legal failures, religious pressure, and political exclusion are silencing survivors — and calls for urgent action, including stronger legal protections, survivor-centered services, and greater representation of women in social, economic, and political life.

Without legal protections, survivors remain at risk.
Without women in decision-making, justice fails.

The WHEEA Organization, which works on women’s right and empowering was invited to attend the event commemorating the 26th Annual Day of Danwadaag and the 13th Anniversary of the Danwadaag Program. The event was attended by our Executive Director, Madam Eido.

The purpose of the event was to celebrate the achievements of the Danwadaag Program over the years, reflect on the progress made to date, and engage in discussions on future plans for continued social development.
