🍲 No Empty Plates This Eid: The Future Hope Community Kitchen

While we prepare our tables for festive feasts, thousands of families in our communities are wondering if they will have enough for even a basic meal.

This year, Future Hope Foundation is launching the Community Kitchen Initiative. We aren't just giving out food; we are sharing the spirit of Eid by ensuring every family can cook a dignified, nutritious meal on this blessed day.

🌾 What Your Donation Provides
Our goal is to distribute Cooking Ingredients (Food Packs) on the eve of Eid (Chand Raat). Each pack is designed to feed a family of five and contains:
• Staples: 5kg Rice, Onion , 1L Cooking Oil. Two Tin Tomatoes and other condiments.

• The Feast: Sugar, Milk, Tea Leaf, coco

• The Essentials: Salted Biscuits, Juice, candies and other packs

Le. 130 sponsors a complete Food Pack for one family.
Le. 650 ensures five families celebrate with a full table.

• Donate a Pack: Your contribution directly buys the ingredients for a family's Eid meal.

• Volunteer: Join us on the day before Eid to help pack and distribute these kits!

• Pay your Zakat al-Fitr: We are set up to distribute your Fitrana directly to those in need before the Eid prayer.

This is a moment not only to celebrate a new beginning but to reflect with immense gratitude on the incredible journey we shared over the past twelve months.

​2025 was a year of transformative growth and unwavering commitment to our mission. Together, we turned challenges into stepping stones and aspirations into reality.

​2025 Back-To-School Project: Through our collective efforts, we ensured that children in our community returned to the classroom equipped with the tools and the hope they needed to succeed. By providing essential materials and support, we reaffirmed that education is the foundation of a brighter future.

​The 2025 Future Hope Spelling Bee: On November 27, at the Scientist Pool in Bess Berry Community, we witnessed the power of language under the theme "Words Build the Future." From the brilliant victory of Hassan Kamara to the hard-fought efforts of participants from Apex Academy, Maranathan, Sham Sierra, and Hope International, this event showcased the incredible potential of our youth.

Abu Bakarr Conteh is the founder and Executive Director of the Future Hope Foundation. He is a dynamic leader whose passion for social change is matched by his commitment to media and film.

​Education and Professional Background
​Trained and Qualified Journalist: He holds a qualification from Cambridge International College, UK, equipping him with the skills necessary for impactful communication and storytelling.

​Filmmaker: Leveraging his media expertise, he is also an accomplished filmmaker, using this powerful medium to inform, entertain, and inspire change.

​Social Media Influencer: He actively utilizes digital platforms, functioning as a social media influencer to raise awareness and mobilize support for his foundation's mission and industry initiatives.

​Leadership in the Film Industry
​His influence extends significantly into Sierra Leone's creative sector, where he holds key leadership roles:

​Secretary General, Directors Guild Sierra (DGSL): In this capacity, he plays a crucial role in advocating for the interests of film directors and shaping the country's cinematic landscape.

​National Coordinator, Sierra Leone Film Industry Labour and Marketing Guild (SLFilm Guild): He is at the forefront of organizing, protecting, and promoting the labor and marketing interests of all stakeholders within the Sierra Leone Film Industry.

​Personal Life
​Above all his professional endeavors, he is a dedicated family man and a proud father to a lovely daughter.

Mr. Barber Sesay is a dynamic leader, educator, and arts professional currently serving as the Executive Secretary of the Future Hope Foundation (FHF).

​Academic and Professional Background
​Mr. Sesay holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics from N'jala University. Leveraging his academic background and expertise, he also serves as a lecturer, sharing his knowledge with the next generation of professionals.

​Film Industry Leadership
​A prominent figure in the Sierra Leonean film industry, Mr. Sesay has significantly contributed to the arts as a filmmaker. His leadership roles within the industry include:
​Current Acting Chairman of the Sierra Leone Film Industry Labour and Marketing Guild (SL FILM Guild).
​President of the Directors Guild Sierra Leone

Family Life
​In his personal life, Mr. Sesay is a dedicated family man and a proud father of five children.

Future Hope Foundation (FHF) 2025 Spelling Bee: A Resounding Success!
​
​The Future Hope Foundation (FHF) extends its deepest gratitude to the four outstanding schools that participated in the highly successful 2025 Future Hope Spelling Bee Competition, held on Thursday, November 27th, 2025, at the Scientist Pool, Bess Berry Community, Deep Eye Water.

​We celebrate the spirit of academic excellence demonstrated by Apex Academy Secondary School, Hope International Secondary School, Maranathan Junior Secondary School, and Sham Sierra Islamic Secondary School.

​A total of twenty brilliant pupils, five from each participating school, showcased their exceptional linguistic skills and dedication throughout the competition.
​Congratulations to Our Champions and Prize Winners

​FHF is proud to congratulate the following students on their well-deserved achievements and to announce their star prizes:

​Champion: Hassan Kamara of Apex Academy Secondary School
​First Runner-up: James Jalloh of Sham Sierra Islamic Secondary School
​Second Runner-up: Memuna Jalloh of Apex Academy Secondary School

​The top three pupils were each awarded a backpack full of school materials as their well-earned star prize!

​In recognition of their hard work and participation, certificates were presented to all twenty competing pupils, ensuring every student was celebrated for their effort and courage. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to the four participating schools for their commitment to education and for facilitating their pupils’ participation.
​
​This event would not have been possible without the enthusiastic backing of our wider community. The Future Hope Foundation sincerely thank the community people, friends, fans, and well-wishers whose support, attendance, and encouragement contributed immensely to the competition's lively and inspiring atmosphere. Your belief in our mission is our greatest motivation.
