The General Staff of the Armed Forces informs the national and international public that on Sunday, February 22, 2026, several dozen armed Sierra Leonean soldiers entered Guinean territory without authorization in the district of Koudaya, Sub-prefecture of Sandénia, Prefecture of Faranah.
At this location, situated 1.4 km from the border line, precisely at the coordinates (9°59'04.9"N, 11°11'17.6"W), they set up a tent and raised their national flag.
Alerted, the Guinean Armed Forces immediately deployed to the site. On the ground, they confirmed the presence of Sierra Leonean military elements and succeeded in arresting sixteen (16) of them, while seizing their materials and equipment.
The arrested soldiers and the seized items have been handed over to the judicial police for investigation.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces congratulates the units involved for their responsiveness and sense of duty.
On the same occasion, it calls on the Defense and Security Forces to strengthen vigilance and remain mobilized to protect and defend our territorial integrity.
