The community was founded in 1812 with the name Hug brook.

Important Notice from the Regent Community Headman:
We regret to inform residents that the piloting of our community water distribution project has been delayed. The project, financed through a loan from Rokel Bank Sierra Leone, was scheduled for testing on May 22. Unfortunately, thieves stole vital water pipes along the highway before the exercise could take place.
We condemn this act and appeal to anyone with information to assist the authorities. Together, we can protect community development.
