The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially commenced the CAF C Diploma Coaching Course as part of its ongoing commitment to football development in the country.

The three-month course, which includes both theoretical and practical sessions, is aimed at equipping local coaches with modern coaching techniques and methodologies in line with the standards of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The programme is facilitated by CAF Instructor Keatu John Smith from Liberia, working closely with SLFA Technical Director John Keister.

The opening ceremony was witnessed by SLFA President Babadi Kamara, who encouraged participants to take the course seriously and remain fully committed throughout the three months.

“Football development starts with well-trained coaches. This course is a foundation for the future of our football. I urge you all to be disciplined and focused, because the knowledge you gain here will help shape the next generation of players in Sierra Leone,” President Kamara stated.

This initiative reflects the SLFA’s continued drive to strengthen grassroots football and raise technical standards across the country.

AMINATA FULLAH PASSES ELITE FITNESS TEST AS SIERRA LEONE CELEBRATES REFEREE'S READINESS FOR CONTINENTAL DUTY

Elite referee Aminata Fullah has successfully passed the FIFA High-Intensity Fitness Test for Female Elite A Referees under CAF.

The demanding 75/25 meters test was conducted as part of preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Morocco this year.

The exercise is designed to assess referees’ speed, endurance, and recovery level to ensure they are fully capable of officiating at Africa’s biggest women’s football tournament.

By meeting the required standard, Aminata has proven her readiness to perform on the continental stage.

She will now await the final decision of the CAF Referees Committee Selection Panel for official selection to the competition.

This is a huge milestone for her personally and a proud achievement for Sierra Leone football.

The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), 𝐌𝐫. 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝𝐢 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐚, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐫 (𝐑𝐭𝐝) 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐁𝐢𝐨 at State House in Freetown to present the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬, and the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝟏𝟕 𝐅𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦, along with their gold medals and trophies, following their historic triumphs at the 2025 West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A Tournament- 2025.

The remarkable achievement—𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝟏𝟕 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬—is the first time in Sierra Leone’s football history that the nation has clinched dual championships in both regional tournament, marking a golden moment for women’s football in the country.

In receiving the teams, His Excellency President Bio congratulated the players, coaches, and the SLFA leadership for the outstanding performance and for bringing glory to the nation. He commended their hard work, discipline, and dedication, describing their triumph as a testament to Sierra Leone’s sporting potential and a motivation for the next generation of athletes.

Also present at the event were the Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima, and other eminent sports figures who joined in celebrating the country’s historic success.

On the sidelines of the visit, His Excellency President Bio also officially launched the FIFA Football for Schools Project through the symbolic distribution of over 𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝 (𝟖,𝟎𝟎𝟎) 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐅𝐈𝐅𝐀 to be distributed to selected boys and girls schools across the country. The initiative aims to integrate football into the educational system, promoting physical activity, teamwork, and life skills among school-going children nationwide.

The event at State House was filled with celebration and national pride, as the champions proudly displayed their trophies and medals to the delight of the President and other dignitaries present.

This historic double victory not only cements Sierra Leone’s growing reputation in regional women’s football but also sets a strong foundation for the country’s continued participation and success on the continental stage.
