Zainab, a mother of three, is standing in the rain selling pap (porridge) to raise money to send her children to school.

What triggered her decision to go out in the rain was seeing her neighbour preparing their children for school.

She says her kids constantly remind her about what their neighbors are doing for their children, saying they also want similar shoes and bags.

Zainab always assures her kids that she will provide everything they need.

Her husband used to be a driver but developed knee problems. Despite their efforts as a couple, his condition hasn’t improved.

The husband's family decided to take him back to their home, leaving Zainab and the kids on their own.

School starts today, and while the neighbor’s children are already attending, Zainab still hasn’t bought anything for hers.

She decided to take out a loan of Le 200, which is less than $15.

She makes and sells pap, and the small profit she earns is intended to buy school supplies and feed her family.

Zainab makes a profit of Le 40 to 60, which is less than $2 a day.

This small amount is what they rely on for food. Will Zainab be able to send her children to school this year?
