Famous Eunos Bak Chor Mee
100 years of Nostalgic Goodness English/ 华文
In 1920s, our great grandfather arrived in Singapore with his Bak Chor Mee recipe from his hometown.
With the equipment and ingredients secured on a bamboo pole over his shoulders, he began to sell the signature Bak Chor Mee in Kampung Chai Chee. Bak Chor Mee was then served with noodles and dumplings in “Bak Chor” (minced pork) soup. Diligently setting up his stall to serve his customers rain or shine, Bak Chor Mee has etablished a deep and heart-felt connection with the early Chinese in Kampung
We were so touched to see our loyal customer enjoying her comfort food on her special day - her ROM day!!!
At first glance, marriage and Bak Chor Mee (BCM) might seem worlds apart, but they actually share a beautiful common ground. Just as a great BCM requires teamwork, sacrifice and dedication, a strong and lasting marriage needs the same ingredients.
Wishing this lovely couple a lifetime of happiness, love, and delicious BCM together from all of us at FEBCM (Famous Eunos Bak Chor Mee)!

Thanks ieatishootipost for the feature! Providing us a platform to showcase our heritage.
Fun Facts: Majority of the soupy BCM stalls that are in the east of Singapore can be traced back to one founder. Some are blood ties, some were ex staff who branched out, while some were simply accepted into the family.
It's wonderful to hear that everyone is contributing to preserving the legacy. It's essential to continue traditions and pass them down to future generations.
I was sad when 58 Minced Meat Noodles shuttered its doors last year. Their form of Bak Chor Mee with soup and minced pork dumpling is quite special and not easily found anywhere.
However, I am delighted to share that the same style of BCM is available at this stall in Eunos. In fact, both can trace their roots back a century to the same culinary heritage.

Although it's quite cliche, we feel it's important for some year-end reflections, especially in a year as meaningful as 2023.
2023 was the centennial anniversary of the creation of our soupy BCM. As part of the large BCM family, we were proud to see our ancestor's legacy reaching such a key milestone. My great great grandparent's influence can still be seen in our recipe, our work ethics and of course, our logo.
Our logo was first launched in 2017 and displayed at our Lucky Plaza outlet. When we first conceptualized our logo, we wanted to make sure that we paid homage to our ancestors and to the family.
The image of our great great (gg) grandfather, Mr Chen Lian Fu, peddling noodle with his 2-baskets-hawker reminds us that we need to stay true to our roots. We have purposefully engaged a designer to draw his image from a photo of him that was given to my grandparents.
1923 was the year our gg grandfather first stepped onto these shores and made a living out of the noodle trade at Chai Chee. Although he was a hokkien from Zhao An, the noodles originated from Chao Zhou where he was stationed for a period of time. He learnt the preparation and cooking of the noodles there before settling down in Singapore. We are glad that other relatives subsequently recognized 1923 as the year of origin and included into their brand story.
The surname 沈 gives recognition to my great grandparents who taught the ways of the trade they learnt from the founders, Mr Chen Lian Fu and Mdm Sim Jin Mei.
Pink was the main colour as it represents family and warmth, the key values of our business, and who we are.
Since 2017, we have seen many challenges, including covid and an uncertain macro economic environment. There were also some unpleasant episodes as the year was coming to a close. However, all these factors will only serve to fortify us as we remain determined to do our part to ensure that our ancestor's legacy can endure and prosper for the next 100 years.
3rd - 5th Gen, in one picture, under one roof, united in preserving and furthering the heritage of BCM.
From L-R:
Mdm Sim Bee Yong, great grand daughter of the founder, Mr Chen Lian Fu, holding the fort at Eunos outlet since 1990;
Mdm Sim Kok Hiang, grand daughter of Mr Chen Lian Fu, previously assisted another 3rd Gen Descendent of Mr Chen for more than 10 years at 58 New Upper Changi Rd before he retired in 2022
FEBCM is fortunate to have both seniors as the pillars. They have brought wealth of experience and expertise to the table. Their commitment towards preserving the legacy has contributed greatly to the progress of FEBCM.

We are truly honored to rank fifth in the list of Eatbook for top 10 Dry BCM in Singapore.
Although our great great grandfather started from soupy BCM, my grandparents developed their own dry bcm recipe due to popular demand from the Eunos neighbourhood in 1980s.
Being a true hokkien, the recipe is filled with strong traditional hokkien flavors, combining the fragrance of garlic and lard with the smooth texture of noodles. This results in a distinct version of the dry bcm that is different from the commonly seen fiery and vinegary bcm.
Last but not least, thanks for the great support from our fans of FEBCM over the years. We will continue to work hard and harder in preserving this piece of hokkien heritage.
This post is dedicated to address the news on FEBCM on the headlines of
It is very disheartening to see our actions being misunderstood.
Our heritage and roots are an integral part of who we are today, and traditional Chinese values often speak of honouring our elders and forefathers. FEBCM has always been about honouring hawker heritage and the legacy of our great great grandfather. As such, we have been doing our part to professionalize this traditional business, in hopes of easing the process of carrying on the legacy for both ourselves and others.
We have always seen ourselves as part of a large soupy BCM family. Hence, I feel that it is essential for us to stay united, especially in this current volatile market environment. In addition, it's our duty to ensure this legacy continue to thrive for another 100 years.
But, as with all families, there is bound to be misunderstanding. I truly hope that all of us can see beyond the petty squabbles, focus on the legacy of our great great grandfather, and ensure that our soupy BCM can prosper into the future.

100 years. 5 generations. 2 millennium. 1 heritage dish.
As we celebrate our 100-year anniversary, I can't help but marvel how far the dish has come. My great great grandfather would not have imagined that his noodle could survive till today when he first started from his humble cart in 1923. Today, varieties of bcm all spanning from the same root are doing their part to keep the legacy going. Though the journey is filled with challenges, I'm blessed to have a team that shares the same belief and passion which is to preserve our hawker heritage. With the support of BCM lovers far and wide, I'm sure that my great great grandfather's soupy bcm will continue to be part of many Singapore's lives for the next 100 years

We are grateful and honored to make the list of top 10 Dry BCM in Singapore.
This recognition is extremely meaningful to us given that my great great grandfather started from the soupy BCM. It was in the 1980s that my grandfather developed his own dry bcm recipe due to popular demand from the Eunos neighbourhood.
Being a true hokkien, his recipe is filled with strong traditional hokkien flavors, combining the fragrance of garlic and lard with the smooth texture of noodles. This results in a distinct version of the dry bcm that is different from the commonly seen fiery and vinegary bcm.
We are dedicated to preserving this piece of hokkien heritage by continuing with the recipe and hokkien elements of our dry bcm that only a handful of bcm players are offering in the market now.
