Leadership has changed dramatically over the last 30 years.

Teams are more distributed, organizations move faster, and the challenges leaders face today rarely fit neatly into a job description.

At Hyper Island, we’ve had a front-row seat to that evolution. We’ve worked with everyone from emerging leaders taking their first steps into management to global organizations rethinking leadership and culture at scale.

One thing we’ve learned along the way: leadership is less about having the answers and more about creating the conditions for people to do their best work. Trust. Psychological safety. Constructive conflict. Continuous learning. These aren’t “soft skills”, they’re what make teams resilient, adaptable, and capable of navigating change together.

That’s the thinking behind our Leadership & Culture courses.

Ethos. Pathos. Logos.

Three principles defined more than 2,000 years ago, and still overlooked in most meetings, workshops, and presentations.

Without trust, people won’t listen.

Without emotion, people won’t care.

Without logic, people won’t take action.

Great facilitators know how to balance all three: building credibility, creating connection, and guiding groups toward meaningful decisions.

It’s interesting how often conversations about the future focus on prediction.

Which technology will win? What will the workplace look like? Which skills will matter most?

The reality is that most meaningful change is messy, uneven, and difficult to forecast. The real advantage often comes from being able to learn, adapt, and make sense of change while it’s happening.

That’s a big part of what we explore across our courses in strategy, future foresight, AI, and transformation.

30 years ago, we couldn’t have predicted AI, remote work, or most of the things shaping our lives today.

What we believed was that the people who thrive through change aren’t necessarily the ones with all the answers, they’re the ones who keep learning.

That idea has stayed with us for three decades.

The tools keep evolving. New technologies come and go. But curiosity, collaboration, and the ability to adapt are still the most valuable skills you can build.

The Financial Times () has featured Hyper Island in an article on the changing executive education market, with our CEO, Heidi Rundt (), sharing Hyper Island’s perspective.

It is a timely conversation.

As organisations face AI, new business models, and faster cycles of change, the need for executive learning is also shifting.

Leaders are not only looking for knowledge.

They are looking for judgement, direction, and the ability to turn change into action.

That is where Hyper Island has always had a role to play.

Born during the first digital transformation, we continue to help people and organisations build the capabilities needed to stay relevant when the world shifts.

Miro x Hyper Island 🚀

What happens when students get 48 hours to solve a real challenge for a global company?

This week in Stockholm, we got to see exactly that.

Together with , our students explored AI-powered collaboration, decision-making, and the future of teamwork - wrapping up the 48-hour sprint with an open event filled with talks, discussions, networking, and live pitches from the top three teams in front of an audience of industry professionals.

Pär Hellstadius from Hyper Island and Wessel van den Bos from Miro shared insights on collaboration, healthy disagreement, and why better conversations often lead to better ideas, before the students took the stage to present their solutions.

And of course, congratulations to the winning team: Sofya Salnikova, Yukari Nishimura, Lija Scheiman, and Jens Brolin 🎉

Thank you as well to our judging panel: Nadja Tham from H&M, Jonas Lidman from PostNord, and Giuseppe Perri from Volvo, as well as Linn Carlsson Viuhkonen and Carin Möller for making the whole project happen.

Real challenges. Real collaboration. Real ideas.

48 hours. Two YH programmes. One incredible client - 🎉

This collaboration felt special. Miro has been part of the Hyper Island toolkit for years, helping our students turn physical ideas into digital collaboration. Bringing that into a live sprint together just made sense.

The brief: explore how AI can support better human conversations, especially in moments of disagreement. The result? Thoughtful, room full of creative solutions focused on helping people understand each other better and move forward, together.

Huge thanks to Wessel and Anna from Miro for the energy and collaboration, to Linn, Justyna and May for making it all happen, and of course to our brilliant students for rising to the challenge!

You can have the best idea in the room, and still not make an impact.

Why? Because skill alone is not enough.

Most people spend years building skills: learning frameworks, mastering tools, and gaining experience. But ideas only create movement when they land when you present them.

If your message is not adapted to the audience, if the context is missed, or if there is no connection, even a great idea can remain just an idea.

That is where influence matters.

Not louder. Not more persuasive. Just more intentional.

It is about knowing how to communicate so people listen, connect, and act.

So when you think about your own work, where are you today? Are your communication skills already where you want them to be, or is there still room to grow? 👀

For those ready to take their communication skills to the next level, discover the next cohort of Hyper Island’s The Art of Effective Communication course, starting on May 11.
