This week, World Health Organization - WHO Seychelles is supporting Ministry of Health Seychelles to strengthen its capacity for reaccreditation under the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI). 👶🌍
Through a competency toolkit assessment and capacity building programme, teams are being guided via both virtual facilitation and hands-on practical exercises in the wards of Seychelles Hospital.
This collaboration reinforces Seychelles’ commitment to ensuring that mothers and newborns receive the highest standards of care, aligned with global best practices.
💙Together, we are working to make every hospital stay a baby‑friendly experience — supporting breastfeeding, maternal health, and healthier futures for all.

The event's higlight was the launching ceremony followed by a walk and fun run with inclusive and participatory engagement of the Ladigue community.

Ministry of Health Seychelles today launched the Determine Antenatal Care Panel alongside a national Training of Trainers session for midwives, marking another step toward eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B.
The new approach will allow pregnant women to be screened for all three infections during a single consultation, improving access to timely diagnosis and care. The launch was officiated by Health Minister Dr. Marvin F***y.
Led by the National HIV/AIDS Programme of the Public Health Authority, in collaboration with the Maternal Health Programme, the World Health Organization (WHO) and Abbott , the initiative reflects a strong partnership to improve maternal and child health services across the country.

🎥 African Vaccination Week 2026 is here!
This morning, Seychelles' Ministry of Health officially launched African Vaccination Week 2026 under the theme "For Every Generation, Vaccines Work."
The launch ceremony at the Sheikh Khalifa Auditorium was an opportunity to celebrate the country's strong immunization coverage, including the certification for measles and rubella elimination achieved last year, and to recognise the health professionals and partners who make it all possible.
