Yesterday marked another milestone step for us , the South Vella people.

Please join me (SVTA members) to acknowledge the passion, commitment and effort done by our current Political leaders (MP Hon Fredrick Kologeto and Hon Rence Sore and Hon Kadiba Alu) for making history in this regard i.e. first of its kind for Member of Parliament and Provincial member to put aside their interest and come up with a common understanding to give back to the people (visionary leadership style) – give credit where it is due.

This initiative will pave way easier for organised CBOs like Sirubai Voko Tribe Association, Sopiata Tribe Association, Uriaupo Community Resource Management Areas Association and Lambu Lambu Community Association just to name a few.

We just need to align the existing work from our respective CBOs in reference to the strategy stated in the plan then we can maximize the benefit of having this platform.

SVTA has a part to play in contribution towards the implementation of the vision.

These are some of our inkind contribution towards the initiative;

• Conservation of Forestry – more than 15 years (community initiative)
• Livelihood activity for women, girls and people with special need
• Create Sport Avenue for youths since 2009 i.e. the “Sirubai Challenge” and recently the 1st Beach Soccer Center in Vella la Vella Island (2017) – produced 1x grass root youth to represent National Bach Soccer in 2019 (high performance athletes)
• Have assisted the establishment of Beiporo Beach Soccer Center and one is to be established by end of 2023 at Ovukunae
• Introduced OFC Justplay Program for Sirubai communities (Kibiri – Lambu Lambu) since 2019 and now it is expanding to Eleoteve to Karaka CHS
• Futsol open Court to be established by end of 2024 i.e. will be supported by WPG
• Supported the registration of CBO i.e. Uriaupo Association, Lambu Lambu Association and Sopiata Tribe Association
• Hosted 1st Environmental Music Event for youths in 2019, Valapata village
• Hosted Envi Speech contest for Primary Students in 2020
• Successfully implement 15x small grants related to Conservation, Livelihood, Sports, Culture, Agriculture
• Partnership with Government Ministries, International NGOs and Donor partners
• Build a double story building for Valapata Primary School and 1x Staff permanent House
• Built a Community Hall & Womens' Center, Pusiju village

A detail statement will be submitted on behalf of SVTA to the organizing technical group to capture 2x decades of community work lessons learnt and recommendations from SVTA in support of the SVPF Strategic Plan 2023 - 2032

Youth Leader: "I am a committee member to the newly established community association based in Honiara. I am so privilege to attend the training during my short break in the community and able to build my capacity as a young leader. It is very encouraging to note that inclusion of gender in all aspect of decision-making is crucial and I hope to practice this in my committee".
