🚧 Hazard vs Risk – Know the Difference

Many people use hazard and risk interchangeably, but in safety management, they are not the same.
🔹 Hazard
A hazard is anything that has the potential to cause harm.
👉 Example:
• Unguarded machinery
• Working at height
• Chemical substances
🔹 Risk
Risk is the likelihood that the hazard will cause harm and how severe the outcome could be.
👉 Example:
• Probability of falling from a height
• Chance of injury due to moving machinery
🔑 In short:
⚠️ Hazard = Source of danger
📊 Risk = Chance and impact of harm
👉 Control the risk, eliminate the hazard whenever possible.
