Function: VIR metering stations allow to evaluate the flow passing through the branch of the circuit in which they are installed by measuring the differential pressure between their test points. The flow passing through the valve can be derived in any moment from the differential pressure signal measured at the two test points.

Function: A double regulating valve (also known as balancing valve) is used to control the water flow across a chilled water air conditioning equipment, it is installed to the return line of the equipment and the flow is controlled and balanced to the design flow by adjusting the valve spindle, earlier the pressure drop across the coil is measured and the valve spindle is adjusted accordingly to achieve the required flow.

Family: VIR Fixed and Variable Or***ce Balancing Valves
What is the difference between Fixed and variable Or***ce Balancing valves?
The term ‘Or***ce’ refers to the opening in the valve that the water flows through.
• FODRV: With a FODRV the ‘orifice’ that creates the measured pressure drop, is an actual opening of a fixed size, hence the term ‘Fixed orifice’. Fixed Or***ce Valves have a single value for the flow coefficient Kv. For the FODRV this value is usually referred to as Kvs.
• VODRV: With the VODRV the ‘orifice’ that creates the pressure drop is the seat / disc assembly within the valve. As the gap between the seat and disc is different for different handwheel positions, the flow coefficient Kv is changeable depending on the handwheel position, hence the term ‘Variable Or***ce’
