80 students completed a month-long training program in electronics and computer science at STEMpower's STEM Center in , Western Province.
The trainees were a mix of UTB students and secondary school students, trained separately.
The young innovators, aged between 18 and 24, gaining hands-on experience in electronics and programming, are not just learning theory — they’ve already developed their own projects, applying real-world solutions to everyday challenges.
UTB student Pacifique Uwase has always been passionate about computer science, despite pursuing a degree in Hospitality at the university. After completing the training program, Uwase and his teammate Taophique Mucyo Hirwa developed the Milk Management System, a project designed to support milk vendors in their daily operations.
“The system will help vendors work digitally, especially when recording client information, making the process more efficient and reliable. We hope that STEMpower’s initiatives continue to reach as many students as possible and empower them to achieve even greater heights,” Uwase said.
STEMpower establishes STEM Centers across Sub-Saharan Africa, then provides training for that vast growing base of Centers. Want to participate in our next project? Visit our website www.stempower.org

The Innovation STEM bootcamp at RP Kigali College is transforming dreams into reality for passionate young minds. Through hands-on learning and practical application, students are gaining the skills and resources they need to bring their innovative ideas to life.
Tresor Uwizeye is an Electronics & Telecommunications student at RP Kigali Campus with a project called 'Accident Guidance' that she was passionate about, but lacked the necessary equipment at school.
The project will alert drivers to potential hazards to prevent accidents and notify car owners of their vehicle's safety status for real-time updates
“When I saw the call for STEMpower training, it felt like a dream come true. This bootcamp is helping me develop both my project and technical skills. I'm finally getting closer to bringing my idea to life, and I've gained so much knowledge along the way."
A similar passion was shared by Flora Ishimwe, a Computer Systems & Architecture student at Lycée de Kicukiro. She wanted to deepen her understanding of IoT and Embedded Systems to enhance skills and eventually create her own innovative projects. “This training offers incredible hands-on experience, something we don't get enough of in our regular school curriculum. The practical approach is exactly what I needed.”
The training of 30 students will run till August 29, with essential skills in Embedded Systems, loT, and Software Development.
