As we mark this year’s Mashujaa Day, we do so with hearts that are both proud and heavy. Proud, because we celebrate the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of our heroes and heroines — men and women who selflessly fought for the freedom, dignity, and progress of our beloved nation. Heavy, because this year, Kenya mourns. We mourn the loss of one of our own — a true son of the soil whose legacy and service to our nation will forever be etched in our hearts.

Even in mourning, we are reminded that the spirit of ushujaa endures. It lives in every Kenyan who stands for justice, unity, and peace; in every citizen who lifts others, and in every leader who serves with integrity and compassion.

The Kenya High Commission in Rwanda joins all Kenyans across the globe in honoring our past heroes and celebrating the everyday heroes who continue to build our nation.
May we find strength in their example, unity in our shared grief, and hope in the future they dreamed of.

Happy Mashujaa Day.
May God bless Kenya. 🇰🇪
