In response to the rising reliance on digital financial services and the growing demand for robust consumer protection, we conducted an assessment today to identify gaps in existing policies and regulations related to consumer rights in Rwanda's digital finance sector. The workshop aimed to present assessment findings, share insights and recommendations, and facilitate discussions with key stakeholders to address gaps, gather feedback, and formulate actionable strategies.
Mr. Damien NDIZEYE thanked participants for their contributions to consumer advocacy in the digital financial sector. He noted challenges like language barriers and inadequate banking services affecting consumer protection & emphasized the need for effective multi-stakeholder ollaboration to address these issues.

As part of the Good Food for Cities project, hosted a meeting on October 30, 2024, with members of the Rubavu Horticulture Platform to explore how financial and insurance institutions can strengthen food systems and increase their involvement.
The discussion focused on fostering better connections between farmers and financial entities to enhance support for food systems. Farmers are encouraged to secure advance contracts with clients for financial stability, identify market opportunities as the growing season approaches, and collaborate with financial institutions for access to loans and expert guidance.
By forming strategic partnerships and seeking legal support, farmers can improve their operations and thrive in a competitive market.

Today, Rwanda Consumer’s Rights Protection Organization (ADECOR) hosted a one-day Multi-Stakeholder Round Table Discussion that focused on addressing key challenges in promoting transparency, data protection, and fair practices in digital financial services.
This event brought together stakeholders from diverse sectors. including government ministries, regulatory bodies, financial service providers, ICT and communication services providers, consumer protection organizations, and other relevant institutions.
Speaking at the media about the event, Paul MBONYI, our Program Manager, emphasized the importance of this gathering: 'We concluded with actionable recommendations to enhance consumer protection and foster an inclusive digital economy in Rwanda."

Under the project, Rwanda Consumer’s Rights Protection Organization organized a nutrition awareness session focused on nutrition-sensitive agriculture, healthy eating, food hygiene, and safety. This initiative engaged local opinion leaders from Jomba Sector in Nyabihu District , empowering communities to make informed choices for better health and well-being.

Kungahara is a 3-year project (2024–2026) funded by the European Union and implemented by in partnership with Kilimo Trust EAC and Rwanda Consumer’s Rights Protection Organization (ADECOR)
The project focuses on boosting the production and consumption of healthy, sustainable, and nutritious food in Rwanda’s north-west, benefiting smallholder farmers in the Irish potatoes, fruits, and vegetables value chains.
Its goal is to enhance sustainable food production, increase climate-smart farming practices, improve market access for women, youth, and vulnerable groups, reduce food losses, and promote access to nutritious foods for local communities.

Today, Rwanda Consumer’s Rights Protection Organization , under the Good Food for the Cities project ( ), facilitated a knowledge-sharing visit to the Ntukabumwe/Kabushinge Greenhouse in Musanze district.
Members of the vegetable value chain cooperatives from gained valuable insights into innovative agricultural techniques, including irrigation practices and sustainable management strategies. This experience will help enhance their operations and boost productivity!

During the ongoing , the Rwanda Consumer’s Rights Protection Organization Organization (ADECOR) established a community botanic garden in District to promote healthy, nutritious foods and enhance community resilience. Following this initiative, an awareness session on sustainable agriculture practices and healthy food consumption was held, engaging local school environment teachers, agronomists, and farmer promoters.
