The UK has reported 50 further deaths from Covid-19, the highest daily figure since April.
The government said on Tuesday a further 50 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, the highest day-on-day increase since April 9.
It brings the UK total to 128,481.
Figures from the Department of Health also showed that as of 09.00 on Tuesday, there had been a further 36,660 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK.
Lockdown restrictions in Scotland will be eased from Monday, Nicola Sturgeon has said - but with certain conditions.
The First Minister told the Scottish Parliament that the country would move to Level 0 but face masks will remain "mandatory".
Ms Sturgeon said physical distancing in Level 0 will reduce to one metre in all indoor public settings and outdoors.
But she went on to say that it is a time for "continued caution" and that lifting all restrictions would put people at greater threat and would "risk the imposition of shielding by default".
Italy approved the temporary distribution of a coronavirus antibody treatment by Britain’s GlaxoSmithKline and U.S. company Vir Biotechnology, the health ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The therapy, named Sotrovimab, can be distributed until Jan. 31, 2022, it said, adding the authorisations for all the other monoclonal treatments already in use in the country had also been extended to the same date.
Antibody treatments are designed to decrease the severity of COVID-19 among patients diagnosed with the infection.
Spain reported on Tuesday 43,960 new coronavirus infections, surpassing 4 million cases since the pandemic began as the more contagious Delta variant drives a surge among unvaccinated young people.
The nationwide 14-day infection rate reached nearly 437 cases per 100,000 people on Tuesday, up from 368 cases a day earlier, health ministry data showed. Among 20-29 year olds, that figure climbed to 1,421 per 100,000.
