Yesterday June 23, 2026, the official closing of a field visit to six women’s cooperatives in engaged in Agriculture and handicraft activities took place. These cooperatives are supported through the “ ” project funded by through . The visit was conducted by a team from from who spent time with the cooperatives of ABIBUMBYE Kamonyi,ABATICUMUGAMBI-KABUGA,ITUZE-KIGESE,DUHARANIRUBUZIMA -GATWA,TUZAMURANE-GIHARA and KOABA-KARAMA by sharing ideas and experiences , also meal, and exchanged various gifts as a sign of partnership and appreciation.

Today June 20th 2026, a team of staff members from Medicus Mundi Spain concluded a several days field visit to six women's cooperatives located in Kamonyi District.
These cooperatives collaborate with UGAMA, ARDE/KUBAHO, and COFORWA under the project titled GUHANGA IBISHYA BIRAMBYE , which is funded by Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Today June 19, a Graduation and Certification Ceremony was held at Hotel Splendid in , where of 60 cooperatives that received training from through the KWIHAZA Project were awarded certificates.

All these cooperatives were supported through the project with the aim of strengthening their capacity in governance, financial management, and access to finance, Access to Market and services.
The ceremony was attended by various leaders, including the Vice Mayor of District in charge of Economic Development, Mr. Eric BIZIMANA.

He commended and the for their contribution to the development of these cooperatives, noting that many had moved from lower performance categories to Category A, which represents well-capacitated and sustainable cooperatives by explainning the meaning of .

“ the true meaning of is achieving food self-sufficiency while preventing the effects of malnutrition, attaining knowledge self-reliance, and achieving economic empowerment.”
Other distinguished guests who attended the event included:

Mr Ngoga Innocent, Director of Cooperative Development in RCA,who thanked and the project for reaching an important milestone through the first-ever graduation ceremony. He also called for stronger follow-up and monitoring to ensure that cooperatives effectively apply the knowledge and skills gained from the training.

Meanwhile Dr. Faridah BUKIRWA ,the project manager of Project, highlighted how the project was implemented and commended the tremendous work carried out with the 60 cooperatives. She encouraged the trainees to put the knowledge and skills gained from the training into practice. Also the Board of Directors of UGAMA was attended the event.

The cooperatives that received certificates were also encouraged to continue putting into practice the knowledge and skills they acquired through the training provided by UGAMA and KWIHAZA Project for 3 years ago in order to sustain and further strengthen their progress.

https://ugama.org.rw/rubavu-no-more-excuses-for-failed-cooperatives-268-participants-told/RUBAVU,10th June 2026, concluded the training entitles "Capacity Building Training for SHG/Union Representatives on Recordkeeping, Financial Literacy, and Business Management." which started last Tuesday from and on Thursday.

The training held ander the Prism project with the partinaship of and Heifer International Rwanda where participants was made of 72 representatives from 12 Unions selected form 4 districts: , , and .

The training covered Business management skills, Record keeping and and Financial literacy. Trainees also were given opportunity to practice the records of their day to day businesses and planed to apply same skills in their future operations.

Harriet Mutoni ,Prism project social capital & training Program manager concluded the trainings, thanking trainees for their hard work and thanked UGAMA for the practical and engaging trainings they provided.

She called for immediate field visits to coach the cooperatives so that they can finalize their registrations and apply the gained skills.

A two-day training is taking place in Sector, District, bringing together 72 participants from , , and districts. The participants include committee representatives and peer mobilizers from groups working under the PRISM project.

The training, organized by in partnership with , aims to strengthen the capacity of groups and unions in financial management, business management, strategic planning and implementation, as well as proper cooperative record keeping, all intended to prepare them to operate as sustainable cooperatives.
