Codecamp Romania
Your IT conference in Romania. Codecamp is the first nation-wide IT Conference in Romania, and most likely, the biggest one. In 2020, the community moved online.
Since its beginning in 2008, Codecamp created an amazing community around them, bringing together companies, startups and IT professionals. Codecamp organized Codecamp_The Architecture day, a half-day event dedicated to one of the most interesting subjects in the IT world, software architecture. With 5 talks delivered by top speakers, the event gathered participants from 5 continents and 55 countries around the globe. And it continued during the autumn, with Codecamp_The Online Gathering, bringing together some of the best speakers and professionals from Java, .NET, DevOps, Architecture & Design, Testing, Frontend & Methodology.

When your LLM judge runs the exact same evaluation twice and gives you two different verdicts, congratulations - youβve just built a very expensive coin toss.
Cross-run divergence creeps in through the judge, the judging process, and the evaluation criteria. At Codecamp in Cluj-Napoca, Constanta Ghitu is diving deep into practical ways to make evaluation results more stable without pretending LLMs are deterministic.
If you're building any LLM flow where "roughly the same answer" isn't cutting it, come learn why making AI boring is the ultimate flex.

We've all inherited code written in a mad rush right before someone's vacation - or by someone who left the company years ago. Dealing with that cognitive load is exhausting.
While AI isn't creative the way humans are, it doesn't share our limitations either. At Codecamp in Cluj-Napoca, Venkat Subramaniam is taking the stage to show how we can actually leverage AI to tackle legacy code, uncover issues in complex codebases, and better reason about those gnarly, undocumented pieces of software.
If you want a practical way to deal with the legacy code weighing down your team, this is a session you won't want to miss.

What if most of what we've been taught about building agentic AI is actually incomplete?
Everyone is rushing to put AI agents to work, but standard architectures are often slow and unnecessarily expensive. Enter Jeff Prosise at Codecamp in Cluj-Napoca, who is bringing a completely fresh perspective with his session, Agentic AI 2.0. Instead of relying heavily on standard LLM tool protocols, Jeff will introduce CodeGen agents - agents that use tools by actively generating code. This architectural shift can make your agentic apps run several times faster, stay incredibly accurate, and cost a fraction of the price.
If you are building with AI right now, this talk will completely change how you approach it.

What happens when you point a state-of-the-art AI coding agent at a codebase full of technical debt? You just get legacy code generated a whole lot faster.
If your code is already hard to work with, adding AI into the mix actually increases your risks, turning agents into defect generators.
At Codecamp in Cluj-Napoca, Adam Tornhill is taking the stage for his session on AI-Friendly Code to help us fix this. Building on his work from Your Code as a Crime Scene, Adam will dive into real-world empirical data to show how organizations can sustain high-quality code at scale. Heβll separate what actually works from what completely breaks when trying to achieve both speed and quality with AI.

We spend a lot of time optimizing our code, but how much time do we spend optimizing how much fun we're having at work?
In software development, continuous inspection and adaptation only really work when teams feel good working together. Aino Vonge Corry has always championed bringing laughter into the workplace, and at Codecamp in Cluj-Napoca, sheβs diving into the actual brain research behind why it matters.
In her session, sheβll unpack real-life case studies showing the massive impact fun has on your well-being, team dynamics, and daily energy levels.
Bring an open mind and find out why having a good laugh every day might just be the ultimate team-building hack.

How do you make sure an AI agent actually builds good architecture instead of just generating fast code?
Agentic AI is opening up huge possibilities, but giving an agent the keys to your codebase requires some serious guardrails. At Codecamp in Cluj-Napoca, Neal Ford is taking the stage to break down how to define those boundaries using Architecture as Code. Heβll show you how to separate foundational constraints from desired behavior, giving you a deterministic way to guide agents toward building properly architected software.
If you're exploring AI in your architecture, you need to be at this session.

How many times have you tried to do everything for everyone on your team, only to end up completely burned out?
As programmers, we often feel over-responsible for the results of our entire group. But J. B. Rainsberger is coming to Codecamp to pitch a radically different approach: The Selfish Team Player.
Heβll be talking about making peace with the limits of our influence, confronting our true capacity for work, and doing exactly what we can - and nothing more. The best part? This supposedly "selfish" path actually leads to much more consistent business results for your employer, without the sudden crashes at the worst possible moments.
If you're tired of running on empty and want a healthier way to deliver great software, you won't want to miss this session.

Remember when EJB and SOA were the ultimate best practices? Now, they're exactly what we try to avoid.
Software development has a funny habit of turning yesterday's gold standard into tomorrow's anti-pattern. To kick off Codecamp in Cluj-Napoca, Mark Richards and Neal Ford are taking the stage for our opening keynote to unpack exactly why this keeps happening - and how the rapid rise of AI is accelerating the cycle.
Theyβll be digging into stack complexity, dependency management, and most importantly: how to future-proof your engineering practices so your current code doesn't become a cautionary tale.
Catch them on October 20 at Grand Hotel Italia as we celebrate 18 years of Codecamp!

How do you teach agents about architecture? How do you stay in command of code you didn't write? And what exactly makes a "selfish" team player?
These are just a few of the questions weβll be tackling next month at Codecamp in Iasi.
On October 29, Neal Ford, Russel Miles, J.B. Rainsberger, and Kevlin Henney are heading to the Agora Center to unpack these exact topics, alongside a massive lineup of local and international engineering leaders.
Take a look at the video to see who else is on the roster, and lock in your spot for a full day of raw architecture and clean code.
