Last week, I was invited to Brussels as sustainability expert to speak at a summit of SME Connect about the challenges faced by SMEs in the sustainability sector which took place in the European Parliament.

The three challenges I addressed include the difficulty for businesses to use sustainable materials and packaging when competitors do not, causing their products to become more expensive. With the current general inflation, consumers are more attentive to price differences. Regulations and incentives supporting the use of recycled and sustainable materials would be desirable.

There is also significant investment in Green Tech and Green Mobility, making it tough for companies with less innovative sustainable solutions to secure startup capital. In my opinion, any solution that conserves resources should be encouraged.

Last but not least many entrepreneurs in general struggle with high non-wage labor costs, not only in Austria, Germany, France, Luxembourg and other countries of the EU, which limits business growth. For instance, the first 3 employees should be supported in the initial years to facilitate genuine growth.

On Friday, I had the privilege of being invited for a live discussion on our national television station, ORF 2. I engaged in an interview conducted by Birgit Fenderl wherein we delved into one of Green Heroes project “World Cleanup Day”, which we are coordinating in Austria. During the interview, I elucidated the profound impact of waste on our climate and explained how individuals can proactively contribute to safeguarding our environment by participating in World Cleanup Day.

I hope you all spent such a wonderful Christmas as I did. I’ve been preparing our Christmas dinner for a couple of days to make sure everyone had everything they liked for Christmas.
Although the grocery prices have increased, it was the first time I’ve prepared many different dishes besides the traditional Peruvian Christmas meal. I’m deeply grateful I was able to do that and to offer this gift to my family, which I don’t take for granted, because I know many people are struggling to buy food nowadays.
Weeks ago, I had bought some groceries to donate, but never found the time to do so. Yesterday, while walking my dog, I finally went to the asylum center to bring them the groceries. Only enough for a couple of meals, but if everyone donates a bit, it will become thousands of meals for thousands of people.
Donate to the less fortunate to spread love and peace during this wonderful Christmas time ✨

I’m not a huge ice-cream fan, most of the times I’m disappointed by the taste. That’s why I only get ice-cream at specific places in Vienna. When abroad, I usually don’t even give ice-cream a chance. However in 2020 I found an amazing little ice-cream place in the city center of Paris. The fruit flavors are exceptional, they taste like real fruits! And the best part is, it’s vegan!! 🥰 So it’s cruelty free 🐮 and zero waste, if you take a cone. 💚

Visiting with my girl 🐶 the “Fuggerei” the world’s oldest public housing complex. It was founded in 1516 by Jakob Fugger in Augsburg as a place to house the people in need. Until today it is inhabited, making housing to needy citizens affordable.
It’s fascinating and inspiring to observe which impact Jakob Fugger had on hundreds of families even after his passing.✨
