We moved to Qatar 7yrs ago. The apartments mostly dont have a balcony, even if it does, it is a compact one. So my dream of having my own plant zone was out of question. When we moved to a different house 2 yrs back, we were lucky enough to have a balcony which gets sunlight.
I started my gardening in winters with seasonal flowers. Here the 4-5 months of summer is very difficult for normal plants to sustain the temperatures. And mostly summers we visit our native place. Maintaining plants in summer was bit difficult. Few plants survived, few plants died, but I never gaveup my love for gardening.

Concept: Best out of waste
My Theme:
1. Every Life Matters
2. Tribal Girl
The place we are surrounded by is our Environment. For everything to be in balance in our Mother Nature, the life of every living being matters.
Every living organism, be it a tiny microorganism or a gaint blue whale, contributes a huge amount to the environment's equilibrium. A small difference can cause a huge disturbance in long run. It is our duty to protect the Environment.
Tribal people are the ones who are close to Mother Nature and are the ones protecting and not polluting our Environment. So this theme for this 'Best out of waste' concept, Environmental Day competition fits very well.
The only rule for the competition was to make a dress out of waste materials which are going to be disposed/discarded.
I had many ideas of making a dress with paper, plastic carry bags and cardboard, but my daughter is very choosy when it comes to her clothes. It should be comfortable, otherwise she will not wear them. Considering the competition is going to be held at school, she has to sit comfortably for few hours in class and few hours travelling in bus. So I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable with all the cardboard, plastic, or paper things hanging around her. This made me think of making a dress with old/torn clothes (which are going to be disposed, as they are no longer wearable) and comes the idea of making a dress with the theme, "Tribal Girl".
Dress:
We were having a couple of leggings, jeans, t-shirts that are of no use (torn-out) and I didn't want these to discard as I wanted to make something useful (door mat/pillow case) out of them.
Shirt - Made with my husband's old jeans trouser. As I am not having a sewing machine, I made it done with the help of a tailor.
On back side of the shirt, I stitched a small jeans cloth cut into a rectangular piece in which I have removed few fibers ( to make it look like water and waves). On the jeans cloth, I have glued a fish cutout done from a cardboard. This signifies "Save Water and Water Animals" by not polluting the water.
Skirt - Made with my old/torn leggings. Cut around 1 inch width strips, stretch it by holding both the ends to make it roll on the sides, and glued them on old (faded) pant of Sahasra..
Accessories:
- Headband: Have cut the long strips of my leggings into 3-4 inch length pieces. Tied them on a headband.
- Necklace:
1. Have braided and arranged few cut stripes of my leggings into a neck chain.
2. Made a chain with empty plastic containers (shampoo and icecream). Cut out small circles and arranged them through a black thread as a neck chain.
- Bracelet: braided cut strips from my leggings.
- Sling bag: Made with my husband's old jeans trousers and decorated it with a flower made with pistachio shells.
- Playcards: All the animal cut outs and "Every Life Matters" playcard is made from cardboard.
- Box: Box to hold playcards are made by painting warli art on a plastic ice cream container.
I wanted to keep everything simple and didn't want to add on extra colours by including color papers or applying paints etc. (especially for the cardboard cutouts)
PS:
The warli art on the box has human figurines on them and playcards (cardboard cutouts of different animals and tree) are placed inside the box, signifying it is our (Humans) duty to take care of the Environment.
"Every Life Matters"
Happy World Environmental Day!
Warli art on plastic containers..
This is about my most favourite scene from the movie RRR.
What made this scene as my most favorite scene in the movie?
As most of you who watched the movie know that this cinema is all about friendship between Raju and Bheem. What makes a friendship more stronger is the “trust”.
In this scenario, the main motive of both of them is to rescue a boy. Raju and Bheem are seeing each other for the very first time and without talking to each other, they communicate through sign language to rescue the boy. In that short span of time, Raju thought about protecting Bheem as well. He takes the cloth flag, dips in the water, and exchange to Bheem while Raju was catching the boy.
If someone in your life spares a few minutes trying to protect you, you can blindly trust that person. That is the friendship SS Rajamouli portrayed in this movie.
That friend might hurt you but will never harm you. Friendship doesn’t mean that both the persons should see each other everyday through out the life. It’s just that some guy who is always there with you in your heart while you can be far away from each other and very close in your heart. You might not meet that person again in your life, but you always know that he/she is there for you no matter what.
So, who is your Dosthi?

DIY headband holder with cardboard and plastic bottle.
As my Daughter's headband collection is increasing, the minnie mouse headband holder which I made last year is out of space now. So made this hello kitty one.
Hope you guys like this one as well.
This puzzle is ordered by my Daughter. Last week when I made coasters, she thought them as puzzles I made for her. When I told her that those are coasters, she asked me to do puzzle for her with dot Mandala. So here is the puzzle with 9 tiles.
Everyone wants to keep their car clean and with kids it's a bit difficult. I was looking for small portable trash bin for our car for many months. I couldn't find any so I made one 😀
This can be used as a storage box as well.
- I have fixed hooks to the box, so it can be hung anywhere.
- Tried neon colours.
- Yet to be varnished.
I feel like using them as a wall decor instead of coasters 🤗

Why to trow away the coconut shell when you can make use of it. 😊
◇ Very easy to make and totally an Eco-Friendly bowl.
◇ No chemicals, no colour, no varnish.
♡ Scrape of the coconut, remove the husk, wash the shell, let it dry. Smooth the entire shell using sandpaper. Wash again to remove the powder, let it dry, apply oil and voila your coconut bowl is ready to use.
I have glued wooden beads at the bottom of bowl.
