Here is what we know after 15 years of training coaches and leaders across the globe:
The professionals creating the greatest impact right now are not the ones giving the best advice.

They are the ones who know how to ask the question that unlocks everything.
Who listen at a depth that makes another person feel truly known.
Who walk into a room - or onto a call - and create the conditions for something genuinely transformational to happen.

And the extraordinary thing?
These are not innate personality traits.
They are skills. And they can be learned.

This is not a lecture about coaching.
This is a lived, guided experience of it — from the inside.

In three immersive hours you will:
✓ Step into the coach's chair - and feel what it is like to hold a real coaching conversation
✓ Experience the power of deep listening, presence and questions that create genuine insight
✓ Discover what coaching truly is - and why it is transforming leaders and organisations worldwide
✓ Understand why you don't need to give advice, have all the answers or do the work for others ✓ Leave with clarity about whether this path - as a coach, a leader or a more empowered human being - is calling you

You learn. You practice. You coach.
And you leave knowing, because you have felt it for yourself.

"In a world of complexity, AI and constant change - technical expertise alone is no longer enough. The skill that changes everything is the ability to truly connect, listen and unlock the potential of the people around you."

They are the ones who have learned to ask the question that changes everything.

Not because they don't know, but because they understand something more important:

When a person finds their own answer - they own it completely. They grow from it in a way that lasts.

That is one of the highest form of leadership.

And it begins with one thing most leadership programmes don't teach:
The ability to truly listen. Not to respond. Not to fix. Not to impress.
To be fully present with another human being - they can finally hear themselves think.
Coaching skills are leadership skills. And the world is ready for leaders who know the difference.

In a world full of AI-generated answers, are we losing the ability to notice what really matters?

The problem is not a lack of tools.

The problem is that tools can't always spot the subtle shifts, emotions, and moments that can unlock real transformation.

Great coaching happens when we slow down, pay attention, and become curious.

As Andy Robbins shares, sometimes a simple observation like, "I noticed something there..." can open up an entirely new conversation.

You can be successful on paper and still feel disconnected from yourself.

Many people reach a point where they have achieved the career, the responsibilities, and the goals they once wanted, yet something feels missing. They find themselves stuck in familiar patterns, carrying the weight of expectations, and searching for greater clarity, purpose, and fulfilment.

The challenge is not a lack of answers.

The challenge is that we are rarely given the space to explore the questions that matter most.

That is where coaching creates transformation.

A powerful coach does not tell people what to do. They create a safe and trusting space where people can think more deeply, uncover new possibilities, and reconnect with their own wisdom.

Whether you want to create meaningful change in your own life, empower others through professional coaching, or develop a more human-centred leadership style, learning to coach can be life changing.

In this video, Jeanine shares the experience that first introduced her to coaching and how it transformed the way she sees herself, others, and leadership.

If you are curious about becoming an ICF-accredited coach or developing coaching skills that make a lasting difference, our next Coach Training and Leadership Programme opens soon.

Many coaches believe better questions create better coaching.

But what if the real differentiator is presence?

The ability to notice what isn't being said. To stay curious rather than rush to solutions. To trust the process when uncertainty appears.

Our latest newsletter explores why presence, not technique alone, is often what separates a good coach from a great one.

What do you think is the most important quality of an exceptional coach?

One of the most powerful things a coach or leader can do when supporting and empowering someone is - holding space by being truly present.

This means not interrupting, assuming, formulating a question.

When silence falls after a question or a moment of reflection, the instinct for many - especially for new coaches - is to fill it: to clarify, rephrase, check in, move on.

Resist that instinct. Silence in a coaching conversation is not emptiness. It is the sound of thinking and reflection happening at a depth that words haven't yet reached.

When the person you are supporting looks away - at the floor, at the ceiling, into the middle distance - they are not disconnecting from you. They are going inward. They are turning the question over. They are feeling for the deeper truth. Something is very much happening.

Think of silence as the space between notes in a piece of music. It is not the absence of the melody - it is what gives the melody its meaning. A coaching conversation without silence is all notes and no music.

The pauses are where integration happens, where insight forms, where the thing the client didn't know they knew begins to surface.

Your job in those moments is not to conduct - it is simply to hold the space and remain present, unhurried, trusting the process. Your calm signals to the another's nervous system that there is no rush. That this is safe and whatever is emerging is welcome.

Yes, it can be uncomfortable - particularly when the silence stretches longer than feels socially normal. You may feel the pull to rescue the client from it, or worse, to rescue yourself. Notice that. Name it internally. And stay. Trust the person you are with: they are naturally creative, resourceful and whole, and they are doing the work.

And trust the process. Coaching is not always visible, and the most profound shifts sometimes happen in complete quiet. The silence is not yours to fill. It belongs to the person you trust and support.

And in it, something true is finding its way to the surface.

Something has shifted in the world of leadership.

Knowledge and expertise matters.
But the leaders creating the greatest impact right now are the ones who have mastered something most organisations never teach:

The ability to truly listen. To ask the question that changes everything. To create a conversation that empowers rather than directs.

That is coaching. And it is becoming one of the most important leadership skills of our time in a world of AI, challenge and disconnection.

If you have ever felt the pull toward that kind of conversation - deeper, more meaningful, more human - we would love to invite you to experience it firsthand:

Because coaching is not about having all the answers.
It is about creating the space for someone to find their own answers.

29/05/2026

There are many people calling themselves coaches right now who haven’t completed professional coach training.

This matters - because without training, coaching is often mistaken for something it isn’t.

Coaching is not giving advice, brainstorming solutions, sharing expertise, suggesting what to do or asking leading questions based on their own knowledge and expertise.

These can be very helpful. But it’s not coaching.

When someone operates this way - the people they work with miss out on something far more powerful that professional coaching - done properly - makes possible.

Real coaching starts from a fundamentally different belief: The person in front of you is not broken. They are naturally creative, resourceful and whole.

The coach doesn’t give answers. The create the conditions - through deep listening, powerful questions, genuine presence and unconditional positive regard - for that person to find their own answer. And it sticks.”

And it takes training to do it well and a rigorous process to become credentialed in having empowering and courageous conversations.

If you feel called to this work - whether as a professional coach, a leader who coaches, or someone who simply wants to have more powerful conversations - our ICF Approved Coach Training and Leadership Programme exists for exactly this reason.

You can also get a taste of it by joining Experience Being a Professional Coach A complimentary 3 hour workshop live online experience.

In this episode of the Empower World Coaching & Leadership Podcast, Andy Robbins - founder of Oyster, executive coach, author, climber and photographer - joins Marie Quigley to explore a surprising and deeply relevant connection: what headshot photography reveals about coaching presence, and why both crafts are about far more than what meets the eye.

Andy noticed something profound that most people miss about how leaders show up: "We know it when we see it. But we can't describe it." That invisible quality - presence - is what both a skilled photographer and a skilled coach are trying to unlock in another person.

In photography, as in coaching, it comes down to the smallest details. Andy explains how micro-adjustments - "a head up or a head down, a slight tilt, whether the mouth is a little bit too smiley or about right" - create dramatically different impressions of who someone is and how they want to be seen.

This is the same attentiveness a great coach brings to a session: noticing the tiny shifts in expression, energy and body language that reveal what words alone never could.

Through this intentional work - asking clients how they want to show up, creating psychological safety, and patiently trusting the process until the authentic expression emerges - Andy has watched something remarkable happen. "They walk out maybe an inch or two taller… with a new sense of confidence: this is who I am, this is the presence I'm bringing."

Andy also reflects on the threat and promise of AI, why human connection can never be replicated by a $35 algorithm, the vulnerability of stepping into a new craft, and why the best coaches and leaders are the ones willing to step outside their box - and find insight in the most unexpected places.

Eid Mubarak 🌙

Eid-ul-Adha invites us to pause and reflect on what truly matters.

On faith and trust. On the generosity of spirit that calls us to care for one another - not just when it is easy, but especially when it is not.

This Eid, our hearts are particularly with the people living through a time of profound challenge and uncertainty.

You are in our hearts every day, not just today.

We know that for many, this Eid will be celebrated quietly. Perhaps with a hope held gently that things will be different soon.

To those of you navigating that - we carry you with us in everything we do.

Eid-ul-Adha reminds us that the values that truly sustain us - compassion, generosity, connection, and the courage to show up for one another - are not seasonal. They are who we are called to be, every single day.

May this Eid bring moments of genuine peace, of warmth, of gratitude and of hope for what is still to come.

From every one of us at Empower World - to every one of you

Eid Mubarak. 💜
