31.DEC.2020 Last sketch of the year! This sketch is inspired by friends and loved ones. I have worked on it mostly while on the phone with friends abroad or in quarantine. J U X T A P O S I T I O N - Work in Progress - While working on the ‘Sketching in Perspective’ blog, I couldn’t find a better piece to work on! So I wanted to share some of the progress with you! - First, I started with a thin pencil outline to finalize the perspective by drawing a simple box and plains. - Second, I drew the openings and stairs using thicker lines. - Third, I tried different pen thickness and marker colors for shading. - Currently, I am shading each element depending on the source of light. - SAVE FOR LATER! - I received my LAMY SAFARI and TWSBI ECO fountain pens: Lamy Safari: ~20$ — Brief: affordable for its quality. It’s suitable for an entry level user. — Design: I got the matt black but it comes in a variety of colors and design. It is made of plastic (even though it doesn’t look like it) which makes it very light. — Ink filling: all you need are ink cartridges to replace the empty ones. It comes with lamy blue cartridge. I like to replace it with black ink. — Nib: I am using a Fine (F) nib. There are variation depending on your preference. — Sketching: (+)very light; (+)great texture; (-)defined grip. Great for a daily to-go-to pen. TWSBI ECO: ~30$ — Breif: it was designed to as economic as possible. It is also affordable for the quality it offers. It comes with a box, red wrench to dissemble the pen, and a bottle of silicon grease. — Design: it comes in black and white. Personally, my favorite part is the see-through. It is mainly plastic. The design is simplified to include the least amount of metal. - Ink filling: to fill it with ink you need to place the nib into the ink bottle and twist the piston converted at the top. - Nib: I am using a medium (M) nib. It is design to be easily removed for cleaning or to be replaced by another size. - Sketching: (+)very smooth; (+)easy grip; (-) cap doesn’t fit firmly on the pen. I really enjoyed it!
