On Monday, May 19, 2025, we had a visit from Mr. Ono of the Japan Embassy. He met with our Governor, Jennifer K. Ngiraiwet, to request permission in visiting some of the remains from the Japan administration in Palau. Due to the upcoming direct flight from Japan to Palau in October of this year, he inquired about the possibility of opening these sites to Japanese tourists.

On May 19th, DCM ONO paid courtesy call to Ms. Jenifer Ngiraiwet, Governor of Ngardmau State. There used to be bauxite mines developed by Japanese in the state and the mine sites and related equipment still remain there. These are preserved by the state as historical sites. The landscape behind in the photograph was one of the bauxite mines in the state.
