Palau Sustainable Tourism Strategy 2025 - 2028 - Ministry of HRCTD Welcome to a new chapter in Palau’s journey—a bold and united vision to protect what makes our islands sacred, while inviting the world..

As the first week of the Bonn Climate Change Conference (SB62) wraps up, Palau continues to push for global decisions rooted in science and responsive to the realities of small islands.
Our delegation has been deeply engaged on multiple fronts: strengthening adaptation actions, securing fair climate finance, advancing loss and damage solutions, building capacity where it is needed most, ensuring gender equality is mainstreamed, negotiating robust rules under Article 6, and upholding the integrity of climate science to guide all efforts. Together with the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) and our Pacific partners, we work to ensure that commitments made here translate into real resilience at home.
For Palau, these negotiations are not theoretical. They determine how our people adapt to rising seas, changing weather patterns, and shifting resources, while protecting our culture and way of life.
As we enter the second week, Palau remains dedicated to working alongside our allies to secure outcomes that deliver meaningful support and respect the best available science.
Kom kmal mesulang to AOSIS, our Pacific family, and everyone standing with small islands on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

You will often see the word “resilience” when people talk about climate adaptation. In Palau, however, resilience is not something we learn only when faced with challenges. It is simply who we are. It shows up in our daily life and in the way we care for each other and our islands.
Palau is now developing its first National Adaptation Plan ( ) with support from local and international partners. Learn more about what a NAP is and how it helps small island countries prepare for and adapt to a changing climate.

UN-Portugal Ocean Fellowship - Capacity Building Program on Sustainable Ocean Governance and Blue Economy | Department of Economic and Social Affairs ObjectivesThe purpose of the United Nations - Portugal Ocean Fellowship Programme is to:

Palau is participating in the 62nd session of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Bodies (SB62) in Bonn, Germany, where Parties are advancing technical and policy discussions that will inform key decisions for COP30. As one of the most climate-vulnerable nations, Palau remains dedicated to strengthening global cooperation based on credible science, robust monitoring and reporting, and the integration of traditional knowledge with evidence-based policy.
This year, Palau’s delegation includes representatives from Reng Collective to support national efforts throughout the session. The delegation is focused on negotiations related to adaptation, loss and damage, capacity building, and climate finance, and is contributing to technical dialogues and expert stocktaking to shape effective outcomes for frontline communities.
Palau continues to work closely with Pacific partners and the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) to secure results that deliver measurable support for vulnerable countries.

🇵🇼 The Office of Climate Change is pleased to share that Palau is participating in the National Adaptation Plan Global Network Trainers Training Program on mainstreaming Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in national adaptation planning, taking place this week in Bonn, Germany.
Our team, represented by Ms. Nikisha Smith and Ms. Antoni D. Soalablai is engaging in this training while also supporting the Palau delegation at the SB62 climate negotiations. This dual effort reflects our commitment to strengthening Palau’s National Adaptation Plan and ensuring our climate actions remain gender-responsive and socially inclusive.
We look forward to applying the knowledge gained to advance resilience for all our communities.

Plastic is everywhere:
in our oceans, on our shores, and even in the food we eat.
Here in Palau, where our environment is deeply tied to our way of life, tackling plastic pollution is more than a global priority. It is a responsibility we all share.
This World Environment Day, we’re joining the call to rethink how we use, manage, and reduce plastic in our daily lives. Whether it's using our own bags, joining coastal clean-ups, or supporting better waste practices, the choices we make each day add up.
It starts with us! By caring for the places we call home and choosing to leave them better for those who come after us.
