Our office, Osebelel a Charm, is excited to introduce a great children’s book on pet loss, “Goodbye for Now”, by our talented friend and colleague, Dr. Lynsey Victoria and illustrator, Valeria Kornus. Euthanasia (humane death) and the loss of a beloved pet is never an easy subject, especially to explain to children. Inspired to write this book by her young daughter, Gracelyn Grey, along with her work in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Lynsey has helped many parents approach pet loss through her story and Valeria’s poignant illustrations. 🪽🪽

Statement to the community: March 19,2025 -We are sad to have to send this messsage out to the public, but bad behavior to our staff is becoming an increasingly common occurance. I did not devote my life to this profession to be disrespected or verbally abused in my own office, which is a safe place for myself and my staff. We feel it as a privilege to help our community and their animals here in Palau, and in return, we also know that our regular clientele treats it as a privilege to be seen at our office.
New and incoming clients please expect the following from our office if you plan to bring your pet here:
1. Please call before coming if you don’t have an appointment to make sure we can help you
2. The actual owner must be present at the exam- many owners send an employee who may not understand the recommended treatment or who cannot sign consent for treatment or sedation- this is a protective measure for us and for you. Once you are established as a client and can be reached by phone, it is ok to send an employee, but we may need to contact you for verbal consents
3. Please bring a form of payment- just as you would at any other establishment where you buy things/get services- You will be given estimated costs prior to the procedure and if you agree, payment is due at time of service. We do not accept payment plans or “I’ll pay you later”, because in reality, if people don’t pay we cannot keep the office open
4. Verbal abuse and disrespect in any form will not be tolerated and you will be unable to receive service from our office and placed on a permanent NO SERVICE LIST- this includes inappropriate language, making threats, disparaging remarks, not listening when we explain critical information, refusing to comply with critical directions.

We want to help your pets when they need it most, they’re the ones that lose when a reasonable and safe interaction cannot be had.
Life is hard enough, please don’t make it any harder than it needs to be. ✌🏼

We are happy to announce that T.G- our miracle dog from Koror who was captured in November and the 10 pound tumor and wire noose removed from her neck, underwent her SPAY SURGERY yesterday at Osebelel a Charm🎉She also got a spiffy new collar, i.d. name tag, and a beautiful, handmade heart bandana. Shes already recovering and back to her usual self!

*We encourage all pet owners on island to spay (female) and neuter (male) their animals for the betterment of health, welfare, as well as the environment. Our private veterinary hospital in Medalaii provides this service for a fee, and we also encourage you to take advantage of the generous offer at Palau Animal Welfare Society for FREE spay and neuter. Together we can make the difference, which means fewer animals dying on the road, hit by cars, less dog bites, and healthy animals being put to sleep for no reason other than they have no home.

A dog’s loving gaze has been found to release a “feel-good hormone“ called oxytocin in both you and your dog!

MONDAY OFFICE PARTIAL CLOSURE -Our office, Osebelel a Charm, will close tomorrow (Monday March 17) at 11:15am. We will have a scheduled power outage and upgrade, and will not be taking emergencies, and will be unable to take patients that are not currently scheduled in the morning. If you have an emergency, you may contact Palau Animal Welfare Society at 775-PAWS and check their availability.

Trained, healthy, vet care completed, good with animals and people- what more could you ask for? LOOKING FOR SPECIAL ADOPTER! Our trained Miniature German Shepherd mix, Pinky, is STILL looking for a forever adoptive home!! She was struck and almost killed by the PRR van and left for dead last year- Good Samaritans saw her dying and rushed her in for life-saving care. And now waits… and waits… for her family to come. She will make a wonderful pet for the right family! Pinky is a 7 month old mini- German Shepherd, she is fully vaccinated, fully dewormed, spayed (no babies), healthy, on flea, tick, and heartworm medicine, and has received training for the last 8 weeks courtesy of Dave at Palau Pets Plus. She has learned crate manners, sit, come, let’s go!, and several commands. She is super friendly with people And animals. So basically she’s the perfect pet. She is looking for a home indoors and is crate trained, and needs an owner who will love her, spend time with her, take her for walks, and continue to give her the love she deserves. We have the TOOLS! Dog grooming is serious business! Today’s patient took about 4 hours from start to finish, but will feel SO relieved that all this extra fur and matted undercoat is gone! 👉🏼We have new grooming bandana colors in for our grooming patients! ✅ if you would like to schedule a consult so we can assess your pet for grooming, please text or message 775-7833. Many adult dogs may require relaxant or sedation to tolerate grooming, so please keep this in mind!

Today, we participated in career development by hosting PHS sophomore student Bekiar. Bekiar spent the day shadowing along with Dr. Kristen and assistant Laura, and learned how to perform a physical exam on our demo-puppy Aspen, and was shown how to properly intubate a dog using a life-like stuffed dog head. Also on the agenda was practicing how to suture and close a wound and helping with an actual emergency case of a dog with a severely infected leg. She learned valuable skills, in real life scenarios, including how to operate when the power was turned off by working using cell phone light! 💡

🦷 Osebelel a Charm offers high-quality dental services for Palau’s pet dogs and cats. Routine dental cleanings and necessary teeth extractions are performed under anesthesia with the latest in animal-specific dental equipment. This kitty had a VERY infected mouth and rotted teeth, and showed signs of oral pain and was leaking saliva. She underwent extractions of her rotted teeth and will much more happy and comfortable without a constant source of pain in her mouth. Animals are remarkable at healing, and she will be able to eat and drink normally! ❤️‍🩹

Thank you to our “Angel Fund” donor, Tracy and her family- we were able to continue treatment for a much loved pet today who needed more medical care. You make a difference! 💕

Our “Angel Fund” serves as a small reserve to help us help families who love and care for their pet to be able to provide treatments they otherwise would not be able to. We select recipients on a case by case basis as our “fund” allows.

We’re always so happy when our rescued animals go to the very best homes! We carefully match each adoptable pup to the right home that will give them a lifetime of love and care. Here is a collage of some of our wonderful, more recent Osebelel a Charm rescue animals loving their new lives!

Part of being a doctor is knowing that our learning journey is life long. While Osebelel a Charm’s Dr. Kristen Decina has been in the U.S., she has been able to continue her training with a vital hands- on wetlab on intraosseous (IO) catheter placement. The lab was taught by two very talented and skilled veterinary educators, Karen Maloa Roach and Michelle Hinks. IO catheter placement can be life-saving and necessary in the most critically sick of animals, and is yet another tool that our office can offer to help save animal lives. Dr. Kristen also refreshed her feeding tube placement technique and blood transfusion collection methods. Special thank you to Deb for always sharing her time and extensive knowledge in the blood bank! These important technical procedures will continue to help to save the lives of sick pets in Palau.

TEMPORARY OFFICE CLOSURE- We want to remind our clients and the community that our office is CLOSED until mid-February while the doctor is off island on necessary travel. Clients can text 775-7833 for medication refills and our wonderful Miel and Laura can assist you.
