Public Service Announcement:
Regarding Western Community Health Center (WCHC -Ngeremlengui)

Twelve professionals from the Ministry of Health and Human Services have successfully completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Field Epidemiology (PGCFE) from Fiji National University (FNU) through the Strengthening Health Interventions in the Pacific (SHIP) Program.
This achievement signifies a substantial advancement in regional public health capacity. SHIP, which has been adapted from the CDC's Field Epidemiology Training Program specifically for Pacific contexts, operates under the Pacific Public Health Surveillance Network and involves collaboration among the Pacific Community, Fiji National University, WHO, and the Pacific Island Health Officers' Association (PIHOA).
Adhering to the "from work, at work, for work" educational model, these graduates have gained essential skills in converting surveillance data into actionable public health interventions. Their credentials, fully accredited by Fiji National University, represent completion of Tier 1 training, with pathways available to advance to Post-Graduate Diploma (Tier 2) and Master of Applied Epidemiology (Tier 3) qualifications. Their training directly contributes to the program's dual objectives of enhancing information systems and building professional capacity to tackle current and emerging health challenges in Palau and across the Pacific region.
