Nike is bringing back one of its strangest tennis experiments.

The V***r x Posite combines a molded Foamposite upper — technology most people associate with Nike Basketball — with the low-to-court platform of the V***r X.

The idea is not new. It first surfaced publicly in late 2018 and never had the kind of mainstream run you would expect from a normal V***r release.

I’ve played in both the V***r X and the original V***r Pro, so the family feel underneath is familiar. What I have not tested is this X Posite.

Nike currently confirms the Foamposite upper, Zoom Air cushioning, foam midsole, classic lacing and heel/tongue pull tabs. The current Metallic Red Bronze / White / Black pair is listed as coming soon.

The part I want to understand is what that molded shell does once you actually start moving hard on court — fit, flex and lateral movement.

Casper Ruud’s setup has become one of the interesting gear watches of this hard-court swing.

The new paint is easy to see. The rest needs a closer look.

Yonex currently lists Ruud with an EZONE 100, POLYTOUR SPIN 125 + POLYTOUR PRO 130 and ECLIPSION 5. But that does not settle the exact tour frame — Yonex itself notes that pro frames can be customized and differ from the retail model.

My current read? The racket still shows EZONE DR clues around the grommets and hoop that make the old DR family worth comparing. I would not call it a confirmed DR100, though — Ruud also discussed moving to a smaller head in 2025.

The cross is the detail I’m watching most. And the shoes may be another change — or just a different look.
