Donald Tusk warns Poland could hold a Brexit-style EU referendum EU President Donald Tusk warned that Poland’s right-wing government could try to drive the country out of the European Union if it stops being a net recipient of bloc funding, in an interview published on Wednesday.

This intelligently delightful essay was written by one of our students. Only 11 years old, she is already burning with ambition and eager to pursue a swashbuckling legal career.

Here is the text, in its original uncorrected form.

WHY DO I WISH TO BE A LAWYER?

Since I have been a little girl I have wanted to be a singer. I love to sing and it makes me happy. But I didn’t have a backup plan.

One day I thought „And, what if being a singer won’t work out for me”, and this was when I first started thinking about being a lawyer. Being a lawyer would be very important to me because I could help other people but I could also protect them when no-one else is prepared to. When I am doing something I want to be good at it so I really want to go to Harvard University. I would love to do research and learn from all of these intelligent, powerful and marvellous professors.

I hope that after I graduate from Harvard I would open my own law firm and that it would be one of the best in the whole world and that I would become a very successful lawyer. I want to help people. I know that there are some consequence with being a lawyer, for example you can not always say the truth. I want to change that. Many lawyers are liars and they are not telling the whole truth. This is totally understandable, as in that kind of job you have to keep things strictly professional and put your real feelings aside.

I chose this job but I know one thing which is going to be very hard for me that you can’t make everyone in the world happy. I am very sensitive so that is why I don’t understand that people have to be so mean and cruel to each other or even commit a felony; but when you are a lawyer you have to put all those things aside even if it is very hard.

Once, when I was talking to my father , I told him that I will never take a case of a murderer and that I would never protect someone who purposely killed another person. But then I thought I don’t have to take cases like that. But what kind of a lawyer would I be then?

I cannot imagine my life with out any dreams or ambitions; these are mine - I want to be a lawyer. I hope it will help many people knowing that I fought for them and that I tried to honour them as much as I can. Sometimes you just can’t say the truth but not saying the truth is not a lie. I hope I will bring justice to people who deserve it someday.
