UBESS Energy Storage Systems

👏🇺🇦 Today Ukraine has adopted a law on the development of energy storage installations (bill # 5436-d).

At the plenary session of February 15, 312 deputies voted for the law. The day before, the bill was finalized and recommended for adoption.

The law establishes the legal framework for the development of energy storage systems. According to the adopted draft law, ESS is an electrical installation where energy conservation takes place and its operator is an energy market participant.

The operator of an installation may be a natural person or a legal entity, except for pumped storage plants, which perform energy conservation activities for the purpose of selling energy and/or providing ancillary and balancing services.

💡📢 Very promising news from 🇺🇦:

On February 8th the energy and utilities services committee of the Ukrainian parliament approved Draft Law on Development of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) for the second legislative hearing. According to the committee chairman, we expect that the ESS Draft Law may be adopted next week. The ESS Draft Law became a compromise of at least 3 draft laws submitted by different members of the committee. If the ESS Draft Law is adopted, it will take effect in 2 months after its publication.

Base energy price in Poland reached 1642 zł/MWh 🤯 (~400 USD/MWh). This is 12x more 🤑 than recent green auction prices.
